I absolutely love Louisiana Purchase. It's always been my go to for my birthday meal and it's always been exceptional. I've only ever gotten the chicken and waffles as it's one of my favourite foods however I know that my parents typically get a couple different dishes to share and have also always enjoyed it. I have always loved coming here and look forward to my next visit.

Awesome locally run place in Edmonton with great food and solid service! We tried one of the specials that night, a mix of the fried chicken, cherry cola ribs, and Jambalaya. We tried the Alligator which was amazing and we tried the sticky chicken, which was also very good. The cornbread here was absolutely amazing. I would go back just for this. Emma our server was very attentive and good at her job. Also very easy to talk to. I would definitely go here for dinner again. It is tucked away a little bit but don't let that fool you from visiting this gem.

More than once this place was recommended to me, based on that fact and the reviews on here, my conclusion is, most people haven't got a clue. For the outrageous prices here the food is beyond underwhelming. You can have your one star for managing to keep your doors open. Hats off I suppose! Just another example of the food quality standard being so low in this city.

I have been going at least a couple times a year since they opened in 89, started out really good and has improved over the years. The room has far more ambiance than most, food is always very good as is the service. The downtown location is the place to sit, take your time and enjoy.

I was so excited to try this place; but was severely disappointed. I had a large bowl of gumbo soup which was the size of teacup portion. The soup was drowned in a tomato sauce with rice and just one mussel and a about 3 small shrimp. Taste was nothing great, bland, and boring, and expensive. Second Dish I had was the mussels, again drowned out in a can of stewed tomatoes, mussels overcooked and dried out, yuck was awful, came with a dried out piece of bread. NEVER EVER GOING BACK HERE AGAIN, hated the food, it was just a boring tomato pasty sauces to hide the dried out old food. PORTIONS VERY SMALL and very expensive over $30.00 bucks for two tiny dishes for one person.

Wow! This place is amazing. Along with following all Health and safety protocols, this place is also offering online ordering as well as in person dining. Our experience was wonderful. The southern atmosphere music as well as the delicious food made us feel like we were somewhere else. Their jambalaya and southern fried chicken for the meals on the menu for us this evening. It was probably the best southern fried chicken I've ever had along with the country gravy. My husband had the jambalaya which is a little bit spicier for my taste but he loved it. 100% would recommend to all family friends and anybody I meet. This restaurant will be a staple date night for us for many years to come I think.

Our supper was an evening out that had been much anticipated after all the covid lockdown. It was our 33 wedding anniversary and most years we would go to Louisiana Purchase for a fun and tasty supper. No tasty to be had this year..... It seemed like any appetizer that we requested, they were out of. The Cajun shrimp and crabcake were all gone so we settled for the beer-battered shrimp (that were MEH) and Dem Bones (which were divine!). My husband had the Pasta Larocca, which was sadly lacking. It ended up being a giant bowl of pasta with a sparse smattering of seafood. I guess $30 buys a lot of pasta..... I had the Scarlet Salad which was hugely disappointing as well. Very little vinaigrette, no pecans or cherry tomatoes. Mostly it was a sad plate of pear and onion with a crumble of goat cheese. Very disappointed indeed. The ambiance and staff are still fabulous, but the food was sadly lacking. Will have to think long and hard about ever going back....

We went to Louisiana Purchase for Valentines Day dinner. I have not been there in several years. The place itself hasn't changed much if at all and it really could use an update. Even if it was just new carpet that would help. It is well past its best before date. Service was ok, it took a quite a while to get our meal, the waitress apologized several times claiming the kitchen was backed up. Maybe so but I did notice several other tables that ordered after us get their meals sooner. The seafood gumbo was excellent as was the pecan crusted brie. The entrees were average and my dining partner's fish was overcooked. Overall an acceptable meal however I wouldn't give it much more than just average. Open Table doesn't have the ability to rate with half stars otherwise this would be a 2.5 star review rather than 3.

We went to Louisiana Purchase for dinner on Valentine's Day. The restaurant was full, but they had done a good job spacing the table's out. All wait staff and floor manager's were always masked, making one feel safe. We ordered two appetizers, the Fried Green Tomatoes and Crab Cakes. The tomatoes could've been tastier, but then in the midst of -25 C in Edmonton it is very difficult to get them fresh, so I am sure they're delicious in the Summer. However, the Crab Cakes were very tasty. Well spiced and perfectly cooked. The "Satisfaction Plate" which has Jambalaya with seafood was very good, but the Etoufee was fantastic. The drinks were also well made and we had a wonderful experience. The waitress was very friendly, but wasn't overpowering with her attention. All in all a very good experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant for Louisiana food.

We loved our experience at Louisiana Purchase. The food was delicious and the service was top notch. The manager checked in during our meal to make sure we were well taken care of which was nice. We will definitely be back.

We came in to support the restaurant during such a hard time due to covid. I must mention the young server was wonderful. Very polite and professional. The problem arose at the end of our meal. We finished eating and we were trying to enjoy and glass of wine and digest. Then we noticed the lights being shut off, music turned off, and the kitchen staff were staring at us through the window. The manager put his coat on and stood there. We had only been there for 1.5 hours. We were not even done our glass of wine! I have never been treated like this as a customer. It was beyond rude and to be honest, I probably won't be back. We had a large bill and deserved to finish our glass of wine. It's really too bad because we hadn't been out in awhile and were completely forced out the second we paid our bill. Very sad to see this treatment from a business we used to love going to.

I was a walk-in at this restaurant just prior to the dinner rush. Hostess was very cheerful and greeted me within 20 seconds! I put in an order for a takeout - one of the house favourites: The Satisfaction Plate! A combination of a few different dishes to give you a taste of various items. As it was not busy yet, my order was up in approximately 10 mins. The creole shrimp had just the right amount of spice on it. And there were a few of them too - not just one token shrimp on top for show. Good sized shrimp also. The beans and sausage were pretty par for the course, good tasting, but nothing special. I also had a side of cornbread to go with the main dish. Nice and warm - as if it was fresh right out of the oven. Parking is available for free right in front of the restaurant. This is not a budget place for food, but neither is it in the top price range. Definitely a favourite of mine.
