I had heard good things about the food, so we decided to try it. Big mistake. The waitress was incredibly rude and disinterested. When we spoke with the manager, she said that the waitress was one of the best there and didn't believe it. When she had brought our food, eventually, she put it behind her back and slid it on the table without saying a word. My money spends just as easy somewhere else.

Went here for a late Sunday brunch during COVID 2020, while traveling from out of state. There is parking on street same side as Cafe, but also extra parking lot just across from the cafe.I started off with a Mocha, which was good. Ordered the Tustumena Smokehouse salmon Benedict and added an order of multi grained toast. The order took about 10 mins to come out, which was nice. The presentation is good, with the Steampunk potatoes at side. The potatoes are a good surprise - gold and sweet potatoes mixed with onion shavings..loved the flavor. The Benedict itself was nice, though I felt the Salmon was definitely overcooked and the edges were hardened - as seen in the pic. Hence, why the 4 stars instead of 5. Cafe., a nice find in downtown. And once, you are done and weather is nice you can drive over to the coastal parks/trails.

After reading a number of positive reviews on this place, I decided to try this place out for lunch. The Red Chair Cafe is located in a less desirable part of the downtown area with a transitional housing unit for recovering addicts and alcoholics down the street and in an area frequented by transients as well as loiterers literally outside their doors which is why I have been reluctant to visit this place for some time. Parking is available by the curb outside the entrance although you would have to pay for a couple of hours just to take this spot unless you plan to take your order to-go. Most of the clientele are people that generally work or live in the area and would make the short walk down here for breakfast or lunch during the day. That would explain the 7AM-3PM hours for the place because that part of town is practically no-man's land for anyone wanting to dine in at night. Aside from that, the dining room is laid out with an art museum vibe and the employees are very friendly once you walk in through the doors. It was packed with the working crowd (socially distanced of course), when I came in to pick up my order. For lunch, I ordered the Pan-Griddled Stuffed Portobello, (grape tomatoes, roasted garlic, a kale medley, arugula, and bean-quinoa grain salad topped with caramelized artichoke puree and balsamic reduction....amazing). This is a vegetarian selection, but I was given the option to add meat to this and I couldn't pass that up. I decided to go with grilled steak for the add-on. The result was an outstanding culinary dish with a healthy blend of vegetables as well as the large portobello mushroom pieces that had a soft, chewy texture enhanced with the seasoned grilled steak bits to complement the mix of ingredients. Other interesting items from their versatile menu include the Miso Ballad Salad (Asian-style slaw mix of jicama, Napa, and red cabbage, sesame-seared tofu, carrot strings, and Soba noodles topped with miso vinaigrette, wonton crisps, avocado, and daikon sprouts), Red's Deconstructed Tamale (a corn cake topped with pulled pork, black bean relish, salsa, and cucumber crema....this also sounds like a winner) from the breakfast menu, Brisket Grilled Cheese (red wine braised brisket, caramelized onion, cheddar, and provolone), Spaghetti Squash and Zucchini (House red sauce, mushrooms, grape tomatoes, and roasted garlic), and one of my personal favorites next time I place an order, Traditional Creme Brulee. The Red Chair Cafe has their own website where you can conveniently order online and will give you an estimate via email or text when your food is ready. This will be my preferred method rather than dining in given the location.

So yummy! My family loved the pancakes and the biscuits and gravy were amazing! Oh and that spicy fried chicken, perfection! Strawberry lime mimosa and homemade lemonade so tasty. Dawn was our waitress and she was so sweet!

Really good place to get breakfast. The house coffee was great, not overroasted and burnt tasting. Got the lemon poppy pancakes and they didnt disappoint. Over medium eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was good too. Service was friendly, but the kitchen was a touch slow getting food out if it had any downsides at all. Worth the wait though.

Wonderful experience on previous visits. Today, spent 10-minutes waiting to be seated only to be bypassed by another customer arriving well after us and being seated before us. The wait staff didn't even acknowledge us after seating the late comer. The lack of acknowledgement is the reason we won't be back! After all, how difficult is it to say "Just give us a minute to get you a table."

Red chair has a bright and fun vibe with an attractive menu and friendly service. The biscuits and gravy were exceptional and also very good bacon. Sourdough pancakes with blueberries had nice presentation but were just average. The only downside was somewhat slow service from both the kitchen and wait staff. This would be a great place to meet a friend when you plan to have a leisurely catch-up. Get the biscuits and gravy!

One of my favorite hidden downtown secrets (shhh... don’t tell anyone). If you like traditional style food... this is not the place for you. Everything on their menu is like an artists paint pallet... with the colors (flavors) running and merging together creating a masterpiece of flavor. So many unique, modern combinations. And the drinks! Forget soda and ice-tea... try one of there fruit lemonades or mimosas... espresso too! Fun, artistic atmosphere in a renovated downtown apartment building. The showcase local artist too! Plan ahead, Leave a few minutes to put your name on the list, it’s not a huge restaurant... and shhh, remember it’s a secret! ?

Went here for breakfast today. Eggs were great, toast was awesome as well as their jam. Bacon, could have been crispier and I substituted asparagus and onions for potatoes. The asparagus was cooked great, onions could have used more time, but the pile of shaved cold almonds that covered it was, well gross. I had a mimosa, it was sour and gross as well . No one asked how my meal was after it was delivered. My mimosa came at the same time as my meal. The table next to me ordered a traditional mimosa as well but were told they were out of orange juice? They weren't busy. Servers were friendly and nice, but mine did not wear a mask. Totally get it, I hate masks too, but do your part. For almost 27.00 dollars it was way disappointing.

Delicious breakfast spot. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a good brunch or breakfast spot. Might recommend making reservations during the weekends during COVID because it may be a long wait.

My third time here and the food was still just okay. The prices are great but I wouldn't say it's the most amazing food. I got the Benny special. It looked super good! Chicken was moist but the eggs were hard boiled. The best part of an eggs Benedict is the runny egg yolks. The puff pastry was very under cooked in the middle so I couldn't even cut through it. I was super disappointed because it looked so good!
