The tram is a must-do in Juneau - mainly because there's really not much else we've got going on. I'm not huge on the restaurant up at the top, but there used to be some kind of raptor center up there with a little gift shop that is fun to poke around in once you get to the top. If you're a hiker, you could hike up Mt. Roberts and then take the tram down. And if you're a lazy hiker (me), you could tram up and hike down.

It's a little steep of a price to go to the topBut at the top is a nice little gift store and surprisingly, they sell these very nice Alaska mint silver coins, cheaper than any place else in Alaska

Yes, this is a five star must do in Juneau Alaska. The ride is smooth and fairly quick and the view from the top is spectacular. In addition to the landscape we also got to enjoy a Bald Eagle hanging on the tree top which was eye level to us from the top of the ridge.

They raised the price of tickets to $50 per person. I would not pay more than 20 per person for this ride, and that is extremely generous. It was rainy and not much could be seen. It takes you into an outdated gift shop. There is so much else to do for free, such as walking the trails upwards if thats your thing. Save the money for a spectacular whale watching excursion.

Great Views. Worth the money. Great Drinks at the Restaurant & Bar and Store at the top of the Mountain. Trails at the Top.Wife took pictures and Video of a Porcupine. Person walking the trail located it. And the rest of us saw it from a beautiful overlook from the Restaurant and bar looking down on the trail. Workers kept us safe and made it Fun. ? Steady flow if People Traffic, but run efficiently.

I gave an additional star because the gentleman who "drove" us up was extremely friendly and even tried his best to wipe of the rain so we could see the gorgeous view. Other than that it's a waste of $50. All that's up at the top is a bunch of tourist shops.

So, this was an interesting experience. We were recently on a cruise and we had some more time at port and decided to take the tram up the mountain. It was pricey, but since this would probably be our only time in Alaska we thought let's go for it! So, we took it up and they gave us the last trip up time and last trip down time (noted because we planned to do a hike once we reached the top). It was a smooth ride up and we explore the main area which had a restaurant and gift area. Then, we decided let's go on a quick hike-- it was beautiful. The sun was starting to set though and we didn't see any other humans, so we thought let's head back. We make it back to the main area and notice it felt pretty abandoned. I peek my head in the theater area and the lights are off. One of the workers sees me and with surprise in his voice he asks 'what are you doing here?!' I respond, we are trying to watch the movie that plays at 8:30 (I believe was the last showing posted on the wall). He then indicates, 'well we are closed-- everything is closed.' My kids and I look around and they were literally taking out the trash. He then says, sometimes we close at 8:00, sometimes later. We were shocked!! If the front desk that is selling tickets tells customers a closing time and last team down time, that should be the closing time-- we could've been stuck up there stranded if we didn't walk back from our hike when we did. Notice to staff: you should have a clicker and count how many people go up, then how many people go down as a talley. Saying someone yells out into the woods before they close up isn't sufficient at all for public safety-- I am a woman with two young kids and couldn't been in real danger due to misinformation provided. That made a real impression on us, and I recently informed another family about this experience so they lead with caution if they decide to explore the Tram area. Also, for the price we paid and to get a full hour shaved off was not okay.

Definitely pretty views, but for $50 US a person it’s in my opinion not overly worth it. Juneau is very touristy to begin with, if you do the tram, wait until a little later in the day- there aren’t as many people and your pass is good for the entire day anyways. We went around 3:30 and had no line up. Nice staff! As for things to do at the top, there’s a cafeteria style restaurant and a coffee shop and gift shop. Most things are just more expensive versions of what is at the bottom in the town Center.

The Goldbelt Tram is conveniently located right next to the cruise ship port. The tram ascends 1,800 feet, giving you beautiful panoramic views of the Gastineau Channel and downtown Juneau. What truly made the ride worth it was that it gave us access to the Gastineau Peak hike, a challenging uphill hike with even more amazing views. We saw marmots and mountain goats! Word of warning: There's a long line to go up, and there's an even longer line to go back down. Make sure you leave enough time to get back down.

Rode the Mount Roberts Tramway up to and down Mount Roberts (Roberts Peak) in early June 2023. Quick way to get in a short hike on the mountain. The tram operator provided facts about the history of the area during the trip up and down the mountain.Saw a few bald eagles during my hike on the mountain. Gorgeous, lush area. The summit has a restaurant. When I visited there was a short film and talk about the indigenous people of the area.

Although the line was long, the friendly staff moved it right along

I loved the native performance and informative video. The ticket for the tram is $50, but you can ride it all day long. My friend told me there was a live eagle, but it isn't there anymore. The outdoor views from the restaurant are incredible but we didn't eat there. If you bring binoculars, you can watch mountain goats from your table. The gift shop is huge and has a wide variety of souvenirs you can buy. Beautiful views from the tram and very short ride.

Having done the hike up, we were very happy to take the tram down! It’s a quick and scenic 8 minute ride.If you spend a combined amount of $20 per person in cafe, restaurant, and gift shop, then you’re entitled to a free ride down- the one way fee is $20 per person so it’s a no brainier! We bought some ice cold drinks and a few souvenirs, but you could have a nice lunch up there too.Highly recommended!

it was. wry cool very similar s to other places i have been. it would be a great idea if they had a restaurant once you get to the top. The banff Tram was better more to do with how well developed is in Banff as they have a full restaurant with beautiful view

$50 to ride up the side of the hill. Thats all folks. Signs pictures make it appear like it's an amazing breathtaking days adventure across the Swiss Alps. Nope. Often they stuff the tram car ass cheeks to bellybuttons full of strangers. Tourist trap.
