Ultimate bar in Sitka. Sit and have a beer with locals. Anthony Bourdain would love it. Also a liquor store connected, but there is no salesperson, you have to ask the bartender to come over.

Well, I've lived in this place for many years. And we've gotten to understand that we agree to disagree on people's type of drinking. Don't matter who's drinking a drunkard is a drunkard. Don't matter what color you are. And I learn that the hard way, but these people are very prejudiced and if you are the same way as they are, then you guys will get along. But it's hard to get service in the place like this when you have colored skin. But since they sell single cigarettes, it's my only place of buying a cigarette for a dollar so I deal with them even if we agree to disagree. But there are bartenders in this place who are not as discriminative as some of them. So give the place a chance. And you never know you may make a new bartender friend. Like the good word says love you enemy.

Best bar in Sitka. You can get liquor, drinks, beers, and cigarettes here. The music is pretty good, the jute box is in action most of the time but they did have a Saturday night DJ. Bartenders are worked pretty hard, so it can take some time between drinks. They have a cool bell that visitors should definitely ring, it plays a nice melody.

Great bar if you are a local fisherman. If you are a traveler from out of state, if you are a woman, or if you are black, YOU WILL NOT GET SERVED. The waitress gets a 4 star rating for rudeness. Racism does not equate good service. Spend your money elsewhere!

Went in and stood by for about 20 minutes...when I asked the blonde bartender for service, she was extremely rude. I am unsure whether it was because I was the only black person in the place, but my husband and I chose to leave, rather than give them our money.

A great place in Sitka for a relaxing drink and a quick snack. Tons of fabulous photos on the walls. Lots of locals frequent here, including Chester, a local from Sitka who brought us some of his canned smoked King Salmon. When you lookup dive bar in the dictionary it has a photo of the Pioneer Bar. They have a limited snack menu, but the mini-corndogs are a fun and tasty treat. They also have a good selection of brews on tap with wines and mixed drinks. The staff members are all very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. One of the few places in Sitka that sells alcohol to go. Stop by for a fun time.
