I went to the place back in 2018 annd loved it, but recently, my boyfriend and I went for my birthday and the experience was actually awful. The guy who served us was rude and treated me as if I was dumb when I asked him about an entree I thought was still on their menu from the past. The food didn’t taste fresh at all. And the atmosphere wasn’t very inviting I felt as if I had walked into the wrong building or something to that affect.

Tried for the first time today and I think this has to be my favorite Japanese restaurant in all of Birmingham. Ordered the miso soup, a spicy tuna roll, and the absolutely amazing black cod miso. Will definitely be back!

We finally went to Jinsei after hearing about all the good reviews about their sushi. The sushi was fair. The spicy miso soup was good.My son ordered a BYOB bowl that came with a hair. When pointed out the waiter immediately took it back and brought a new one.Unfortunately, no apologies were offered and the experience robbed us of an appetite. Waiter didn’t even acknowledge that my son hadn’t eaten much (if any at all) of the hair free bowl. Didn’t comp the dish either.Overall pretty underwhelming experience and poor service.

Sushi was edible but very fishy and lacking flavor. Tried a couple of cocktails and all were disgusting. The table next to us brought their huge golden retriever and its hair kept flying all over. Several hairs landed on our table while we were trying to eat. The manager and servers kept petting the dog and then bringing food out to tables. It was super unappetizing and just gross! Will not be coming back here. So many better sushi places in Birmingham!
