Stopped by on our way to Georgia and I don't think I've ever had better BBQ chicken. Fork tender, falling apart but not mushy at all. Fantastic sauce. And oh my lord were the greens fantastic!

If I don’t cook my ribs, Roadside is Only place I will buy my ribs. Courteous and helpful service.

I hadn't been here in years because of a custimer service issue. We tried it again and the food was great. The ribs were cooked and flavored to perfection, so was the chicken. The sides were tasty as well. There are several big name rib joints here in Birmingham that i find average at best. In My opinion they have the best Barbeque in Town!

Have they closed? Stopped by at noon on a Wednesday & the place was locked up.

Two rib sandwiches. They were ok. Large portions.

Yup, this is the real deal BBQ. Hole in the wall 5 minutes from I-20, good for a quick stopover between Birmingham and Atlanta. A no-frills menu (as in, the beverage offered is Pepsi, and don't ask for diet). It's all about the ribs here, and I had a lunch plate which came with 3-4 ribs, 2 slices or white bread and choice of two sides (I had mac salad and baked beans). Everything was delicious, just the way barbecue should be. They do slather sauce over the ribs so be sure you tell them if you don't like that. Genuinely friendly service, of the down home southern style.Seems to be mainly for takeout right now--the adjacent dining room is closed but they were kind enough to let me eat sitting at a table near the serving counter.

Been to this hole in the wall twice and can guarantee a third. Nice friendly service. And damn solid ribs and dying to try the chicken. The rib sandwich was stellar, and the rib plate was really tasty. And the macaroni salad was delicious. If your ever near Eastlake, definitely give this place a go. Ribs and chicken is what the specialize in here. No brisket or pulled pork. But that didn't bother me in the least. Just good eatin.Update: Don't forget about that chicken. So good!

This. . .is a truly excellent BBQ experience. Ribs and Chicken done right. I regularly tell people all across the country that this is the best BBQ in town. If you want flashy, go somewhere else and pay a lot more for things a lot less memorable, and certainly less tasty. Rodney is a true pit master, dedicated to his craft. It is a simple menu, consistently done with excellence, and served up with a smile and grateful appreciation. Been a fan for years, and hope to enjoy Roadside for many years to come. It is an East Lake fixture.

On our drive from Johnson City, TN to home near Houston, TX, we decided we wanted some BBQ for lunch. I looked up options on Yelp, and this place had great reviews. They wouldn't let us sit in their dining area to eat, so we had to take their average food to a hot park in July to eat with the flies. Without considering this, the food wasn't worth the effort.

Everytime I am at Birmingham, I have to stop by and grab some ribs at this joint. The ribs are probably the best here in Alabama. The customer service is also great.
