I was not greeted when i walking in. They did not have in hair nets. They had no visible hand sanitizer. No one had on a mask. They had the ice bin open the whole time. Mrs.Sue was trying to remember who came in first but she was skipping over people then when you corrected her she was upset.They were yelling all over the restaurant. It’s only one person cooking. Two people working. When I did get my food some of it was cold. The tea was extremely sweet. The service and atmosphere was chaotic and unsatisfying. It will be a cold day in the Bahamas before I go back!Kid-friendliness: No

Sammy’s is a True Old School Burger Joint! Sidney Bajjalieh and his mom and dad own and run this joint. His mom and dad are still at the flattop griddle flipping high quality hamburger meat with a line out of the door sometimes. When you approach the building and walk in it’s like watching an episode of That 70’s Show or any thing circa 1965 to 1985. It’s an incredible Birmingham MUST SEE & EXPERIENCE!Family Owned and Operated since the mid to late 1960’s.The BEST BURGER IN TOWN!!!

burger is exactly correct - right size, good but not fancy in any detectable way, cheap (by 2023 standards). also i love restaurants that are only open from 10-3. i try not to work outside those hours too.

Let me start by saying it was a little confusing walking in for the first time. I wanted to place a carry out order and wasn’t sure where to do so. Do you go to the register? To the counter where people are eating? Do you take a seat? Not sure which is correct but I took a seat and was warmly greeted within minutes and my order taken. The food was done very quickly and the service was extremely friendly in this (you can tell) family run restaurant. The environment was clean but kind of what you would expect from a kind of “hole in the wall” diner. I would say it’s overpriced for what it is, I only ordered a cheeseburger and an order of fries to go and my total was over $13! That’s steep in my opinion. The cheeseburger was really good, my only complaint was that the bottom bun was really thin and soggy and I ate it immediately upon walking out. The fries were just OK, probably would just order the burger when I go again. At the price point I won’t go a lot, but the burger and the service were both good enough for a return visit! Definitely worth a try.

Each town only has one or two of these places. I can only assume it's Mom and Dad working the grill together (which is visible to all the seats and tables) and their adult son working the floor and cash register. There's no ticketing system and there's no need. The three of them just talk it out and keep reminding each other where they're at in the orders.And of course everything is delicious. You get to watch them making everything fresh to order. The burger is so soft it's falling apart in all the right ways. Today was my first time and I'm in love. These are beautiful people with the best little place that's only open from 10am-3pm. Get it if you can

The food grill food is cooked to order and you get plenty of it. Be prepared to sit back and enjoy the ambiance and chitchat between patrons and family. They recently stopped serving breakfast but their lunch (10-3) is worth a visit. Somewhat small with Dad, Momma and son working but no more are needed. I love their Greek ancestry and found out that Sammy's name was Dad's father's name. What a rich history. All the food is great. Momma and Dad are slowing down so you need to visit sooner rather than later. As I understand, the son will not continue in the restaurant. The restroom is small but functional. May God bless the days they have left.

Well, my dad used to bring me here when I was a kid. I’ve been meaning to stop by but I’m always working and I finally got a chance to and I must say it has changed. The guy at the register didn’t speak but when I asked if they had a menu he pointed to the board as he walked away. I figured what I wanted and waited for him to come back. After 5 minutes he finally said have a seat we will take your order. I guess because I caught them almost at 3 they are tired but it’s ok. Always speak and thank your customers regardless. The cook was nice. Not the same inviting atmosphere I experienced as a child…
