They require ID and charged for entry after a certain hour so be sure to have identification and cash on you to avoid using the ATM. The drinks were okay and the $10 bucket was a DEAL! Shoutout to the DJ who had a variety of music playing and had everyone dancing! Definitely planning to come here again when in town.

Dj tonight is the reason I will never patron this place again. The bouncer flicked me and my girlfriend off for no reason. I ordered two drinks and the bartender only gave me one and only after my continuous complaining did he give me the second. Clean house but save the bouncer. He was nice!

Pretty cool bar. There are inside and outside seating areas. As well as a volleyball court. How many other bars do you know in the area that have these amenities? Service was just okay. Drinks are decent. I highly suggest either taking a few of their $5 shots or sticking to canned beverages. The drinks they make aren't that good. But for a dive bar I guess they are okay.

This past weekend a group of family/friends and myself did the Birmingham Pedal Tours for my cousin's birthday. Our second stop was at the Side Bar located on 7th Ave S. Before we could exit off the tour ride, we were immediately stopped by two caucasian males. The first male said his name was Justin Cancer. He said their establishment does not participate with the Birmingham Pedal Tour because they would not make enough money. Now, keep in mind.. we had 12 black females on the tour ride. Our stop would only be for 20 minutes there and each person would buy at least 1-2 drinks within those 20 minutes. But you're allowing other races in your facility as we sit there. We all sat quietly and listened to his reasoning for not letting us in. We promptly informed our driver to proceed to leave. I felt very discriminated against. This is not a place I'll be back to. Our next stop was the Tin Roof on 7th Ave S... We had a great time with live music. The band was great and so were the drinks!!!

On June 17, 2023 between 8:30/8:45 pm, 11 of my guests and myself were enjoying celebrating my birthday on a Birmingham Pedal Tour ride. Side Bar was our 2nd stop. Unfortunately, we were greeted by 2 young white males who stated that they don't participate with Birmingham Pedal Tours and that they wouldn't make enough money from us. Our stay would've been around 20 minutes. I would think 12 people who bought anywhere from 1-2 drinks each would've been a nice amount of money for 20 minutes top. Every woman on the bike ride was Black. It was immediately recognized as discrimination! In order for my guests to continue to have a good night, I chose to deal with this matter later. It was a hard pill to swallow and move on to the next place without voicing my absolute disgust! I would never recommend this place to anyone of Brown or Black color as long as those 2 young men are there and whomever told them or was in agreeance with what they did! The young man who was the driver of our bike also noticed it. It was very obvious that this was a usual stop for this vendor, or he wouldn't have just stopped there. I DEFINITELY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE SAME IGNORANT MINDSET AS THESE EMPLOYEES OF " THE SIDE BAR"!

Our group of 12 arrived at the venue and were greeted by two young males. Unfortunately, one of them didn't provide his name, but the other young man, Justin Cancer, informed us that The SideBar would not accommodate our party due to our association with Birmingham Pedal Tours. According to Justin, they no longer serve guests who cycle through Birmingham with this vendor. Naturally, I inquired about the reason behind this decision, to which he replied that they don't generate enough revenue from larger parties like ours. He also mentioned that the owner, Justin Davis, implemented this policy, although there was no written documentation to support it.But how do you know in advance the amount of money we were going to spend? Since when do bars have a minimum? Given the occasion of celebrating my friend's birthday and our limited time, I wanted to maintain professionalism. Therefore, we decided to just leave The SideBar and head to our next destination. I expressed to our driver that The SideBar should have informed Birmingham Pedal Tours in advance, which would have prevented this rude incident. He wholeheartedly agreed. I have been a patron of this establishment on multiple occasions, but after this experience, I will not be spending another penny here. The unprofessionalism displayed was truly disheartening. It's perplexing to think that a party of 12, who would have potentially spent $200 or more within 15 minutes, is deemed unworthy. Something is amiss here.
