Great place if you like sours. A lot of guest pours - would be nice if they had more local selections or collaborations or pours of their own.Staff very friendly - glad to give samples and flights are offered.Wish they were more clear on their hours.

Good brewery overall.

Yeah genuis idea with the move, now you’re going to kill the low key vibe the original Sour Room location provided; more away from the maddening crowd to put it that way. Now the place will be filled with all the other loud extroverted sensor type (mbti) animals from the crowd at Avondale Brewery instead of the low key minimalist space where it was and was intended to be. I can see it happening now and I know this is what’s going to happen. Watch.

Online and Facebook has the same location. You go there and on the building it says they moved to new address. You go there and the Avondale Sour Room is no where to be found. I’m not even sure this place is even open, but either update everything to say you’re closed, or put the correct address. Also tried calling and nobody answered.

Couldn't find it. The original location stated that it moved. We used GPS to navigate to the new location and ended up going somewhere different :(

It was closed when I got there. There was no posting of whether it will open again. I got there around 6:30pm. I wish I could post on the experience.

Cool place. For now. Will success spoil the Sour Room? Hope not.

Low key with kettle and barrel aged sours. Very cool.

I'm jealous that we don't have a similar establishment in Memphis.

The Avondale Sour Room is by far my favorite brewery (recognizing that the sour room is an ancillary building to the larger Avondale Brewery) that we’ve ever gone to. My husband loves beers, especially sours, and this was his favorite place in Birmingham out of the four top rated breweries that we visited. Truly awesome beer, let my husband (he highly recommends the Farmhouse Blend, the Belgian Quad, and any of their goses. I do not drink myself, but I go to a LOT of breweries with him, and this was such a fantastic atmosphere. Quiet with super comfortable and private leather booths inside, but also fantastic music all day/night long. The interior is really cool too and lends itself to a more intimate setting. The bar staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely wish there was a place like this back in Athens, GA, for us to enjoy. My gripe with a lot of breweries that we go to is that they’re often loud, overcrowded, hot, and low on seating. This place is 100% the opposite, and for those who want to try the regular Avondale beers, you can grab them at the main brewery and walk over and enjoy the fantastic sour room. Don’t pass this place up!
