I visited this bar twice. On the first occasion, the bartender was slow and inexperienced. Plus the computer system was inoperable so the bartender had to keep track of tabs by hand.On the second occasion, same experience as the first. However, the second time had the added bonus of the bar's water pipes busting. Water began to flood from under the bar into the lobby area and it had to shut down for the rest of the evening. The drinks were $$$ I remember it was about $38 for 2 mixed drinks.Hope they resolved their plumbing issue.

5 Stars for looks and the environment but my work schedule did not allow for me to actually go to the bar

This place needs to fix their online information. After driving here to check based on online availability , the front desk said they were booked. We drove here specifically to eat at the tapas restaurant. So, we checked in to an expensive hotel around the corner. When we called for reservations to the WXYX bar, they told us they moved out even though the restaurant is still listed on their webpage. I have no idea if this is a good place to stay or the restaurant in the new location is good but too much misinformation online.

I've been coming to the wxyz bar at Aloft on week ends with friends, it's a great place to meat people from all over, but what keeps me coming back is the bartender B.J. she is one of a kind, polite, funny and pleasure to talk to I will be back you should to!!!!

Me and my friends came here for the drinks (which were great) but what made us want to come back was Alvin! He's the front desk attendant that will welcome you with love and zest and open arms. Definitely recommend!

My friend and I went here after work to unwind. The bartender was not very helpful as she acted like she didn't want to be there. It took her a while to make our drinks despite there only one other customer there. We wanted to order some food on the menu. Literally every thing we wanted on the menu- they ran out of the ingredients. They were even out of lettuce. My brain cannot comprehend this. In short, go somewhere else for better service, more choice in food and drinks.

If you like to hop from one bar to another, this one should be on your list if you're passing though this side of Homewood. Its part of the Aloft hotel, and so you may find yourself in conversations with people from who knows where...which can, at times, be a good thing. 4 stars instead of 5 because I like it when a bar has a list of house cocktails, and this one does not. But, they do have a full bar, with lots of good booze, and the bartender that my friend and I encountered was well skilled in his profession. I had a Manhattan which was just fine, and she made some strange requests based on a description of some combination of flavors and some other drinks she'd had elsewhere. He concocted something and it turned out great. The place is very clean, very tidy, and has a nice open space kind of appeal. High ceilings and a pool table on the side. There's an outdoor area with some art deco style chairs and umbrellas to block the sun, and the furniture has a sort of Clockwork Orange appeal to it. Overall a pretty interesting look, and very modern. Other than that, not too many frills. Just good drinks, cool atmosphere and a respectable crowd.

Meh... Not really a huge fan. This bar is convenient if you happen to be in Homewood and need to wet ur whistle, but if you don't mind a quick drive to the next city, make that trip. Only been here twice but both times something was left to be desired. The decor and ambiance is great! This bar is in the lobby area of the Aloft hotel. There's plenty of seating, at the bar, near the bar and even on an outdoor patio. A pool table is nearby as well. All of that's great however, for me things go downhill with service. On my first visit it took everything but standing on the bar to get some attention. Wasn't that busy, wasn't that many people. The second visit, nobody was even in the bar as we walked up. Other employees standing around, but nobody offers to help or anything. Once somebody does show up, he just gave off a real meh vibe. Might be for you... Not really for me.

As another reviewer commented - I am from the area and would never have considered a hotel bar for a drink. A friend asked to meet here and I was pleasantly surprised. Limited but great draft beer selection with a friendly and attentive bar tender. I've been several times and it is never too crowded or loud. My only complaint is the techno pop music that is always playing.

Swanky, modern bar in the lobby of the Aloft hotel. The setting is very laid back, the fireplace is comforting and the billiards tables make this a cool and relaxing place to hang out with friends or unwind as you get into the hotel.

Wxyz is located in the lobby of the Aloft hotel, but it definitely doesn't feel like a hotel bar. It's a great choice for an after dinner drink if you're leaving any of the wonderful restaurants in Homewood. It's design is fresh, modern and trendy. You can grab a seat at the bar and talk with one of the exceptionally nice bartenders or opt for the comfortable, lounge-worthy and more intimate seating that's all around. If you need the fresh air (as long as there's no smokers), there's additional tables and chairs in the courtyard. It's a full bar with some interesting signature cocktails and even the local brews. WooHoo! Good People!! They set out wasabi almonds to munch on with your drinks. I love the spicy, but I've never been a fan of wasabi peas, so I refrained. I really enjoyed watching my friends enjoy and suffer through them. Both times I've been, the small courtyard area had a few groups enjoying a game of cornhole. I love the idea of people being strangers from different places and being brought together. A hotel is a perfect place for that, but you don't see it happening much.

Since I live in Birmingham, I never saw myself going to a hotel bar in town. Luckily, I had a friend in town that was staying at Aloft and it only made sense for us to meet up in the lobby. It was a Sunday night, so there wasn't a big crowd (just how I like it). Moments after sitting down, the bartender came over to our couch area and took our order. The drinks were served quickly and made well. The area we were sitting was very comfortable and accommodated a decent size group. A few hotel patrons sat nearby and we ended up talking. It was a neat experience to chat with folks from around the country, while sitting in my home town. I won't rule this bar out any longer. In fact, it will be near the top of my list.

Free WiFi available. Well drinks may seem pricey, but they are using Bombay and Absolut after all...
