“Sammy’s is a True Old School Burger Joint! Sidney Bajjalieh and his mom and dad own and run this joint. His mom and dad are still at the flattop griddle flipping high quality hamburger meat with a line out of the door sometimes. When you approach the building and walk in it’s like watching an episode of That 70’s Show or any thing circa 1965 to 1985. It’s an incredible Birmingham MUST SEE & EXPERIENCE!Family Owned and Operated since the mid to late 1960’s.The BEST BURGER IN TOWN!!!“

“Went in to grab a quick lunch and chose the Italian sub. Everything on it was fresh and the meat used was of good quality as well. It's nice to be able to get a sub and actually taste the individual ingredients instead of the usual bland mess thrown at us by most chains.“

I wish there would have been more meat in my sandwich (which cost $16 with an iced tea), but it was still delicious. My biggest complaint was with the staffing. There were three servers, and they all worked our table. No sooner had one left than another would arrive to ask if we needed anything. It was intrusive!“

“Firehouse seems to be pretty consistent from my experience but this staff was great!! It was a young high school student appeared to be in charge and she was fantastic! “The sweet staff member was very polite and was interested in our conversation about veterinary medicine. I learned that she likes horses and would like to work in the field and she learned I like a subway club light mayo with jalapeño peppers. Pretty good swap I’d say. The sandwich was great!Vegetarian options: I mean she likes horses. If you’ve seen one vegetarian options you’ve seen them all right?“

“I hope this is a one time thing but I was so disappointed in my meal today. I love JJ, and I never thought I’d have anything negative to say but my sandwich left so much to be desired. No lettuce was on it and it was mostly bread with very little avocado. I’ve had the veggie many times before mostly at other locations and it’s never looked like this. Pic attached.“

“My go to place for a good fast meal. The subs I get are just the way I want. The service is great. However, I am perplexed that the establishment is void of customers when I visit after work hours. Good for me on my way to an event at the BJCC or the not to far away high school.Parking: Parking is in rear of building away from the front entrance.“

“Both ordered Hook & Ladder sandwiches with no mayo. As good as any sandwich you get anywhere else. I don't like anywhere that ask you to round up your check for whatever their cause is...There is a box sitting at the register for donations and if I choose to give, my business.
