My husband and I went for the first time tonight, and we fell in love. The atmosphere was really nice and it was very clean. We were greeted as we came in the door with a hello and a smile. The server was friendly, and answered our questions about the menu. We ordered a cup of gumbo and a cup of red beans and rice as our starter and they were amazing. We both had the Who Dat burger and it was mouthwatering. My husband loved the gumbo so much he ordered another cup for his side. I had the fried onion strings as my side. They were well seasoned and crispy. The portion sizes are hearty, the prices are very reasonable. I of course had to try the beignets, and they were excellent. We highly recommend JP & Son, and we will definitely be returning soon!
Don't waste your time or money. I got crawfish etoufee and it was more or less rice with tomato soup on it.

order to go shrimp po boy , honestly subway could have done better. bignays were over done and tough . mac & cheese mehover all will not go back 16$ for that. not againParking: small lot.

Absolutely the best restaurant in Southside. The service is great. We went in and were greeted and served by Mimi! They should name the joint "Mimi's place" !!This is authentic Cajun cuisine at it's finest. You are going to have to make a trip to New Orleans to get anything better.I usually get the Raging Reuben, but their burgers are incredible.Every dish is as authentic Ed Orgeron. Julie had the Salmon BLT and already wants to go back.We work at Buck's Island in Southside and frequent this place. The people are great and the food is just as good.If you are in Southside, or even in the Gadsden area and want authentic Cajun cuisine, do yourself a favor and stop by.

Straight up good Cajun food here. I had gumbo that was excellent, and étouffée with a generous helping of crawfish. Can't fault either, good rich depth of flavor and not overwhelming spice. My companion had a burger with onion strings, both of which were really tasty. Couldn't pass on dessert. The beignets were not as good and fluffy as say Cafe du Monde, but good enough. Fried bread pudding was outstanding with hints of cinnamon and soft chewy center.Also, great friendly service, and very clean. Decor was maybe best described as reclaimed farmhouse chic, which is a bit odd for Cajun, but still tasteful. Not busy at all on a Thursday, so I hope they stay in business because I'll be back.

I seldom give 5 stars but this is a locally owned place and we need more like this. The decor is tasteful, the service was very good, the food was excellent. I had the Pastalaya and some beignets. The Pastalya was amazing and the beignets were so very good.I saw several things on the menu that I want to try. This place is on 77 in Southside...leave the city and drive out. It is worth it.
