Planning a trip next week to GS and was looking for restaurants to stop at before we arrive to our condo. Saw this place and thought it looked cute and considered stopping. After digging into the reviews and how the owner was responding to the constructive criticism, my husband and myself will be avoiding this place and probably the area. So if you were like me and curious about this place, I would advise that you read through these reviews first.Update:As you can see below they proved my point.

Didn't tell us they had no crab claws until we had drinks. We order other items anyway because of shortages , we understood. I had to get up and ask for refills for everyone at the table. The shrimp was good , the coleslaw was nasty , all juice no slaw. Chicken tenders were more $ than our shrimp meals. They added 20% tip to our tickets and we usually tip more 8f service is good but not this time. We were the only customers and still got not great service.Table of six adults , two being elderly . We will not be back.

THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP! We should have known better because they were not busy when we entered. The waiter slammed a stack of menus on the table, and was just overall rude. They charge $23 for chicken fingers? It’s more than most of the seafood. Their “world famous crab cakes” as advertised were sold out when we ate during peak business hours. AND their “world famous hush puppies” were burnt. The fries? Tastes burned and we had two different style of fries served. They serve bottles of soda versus actually the real thing; the only drink that wasn’t in a bottle was tea. Only condiment is ketchup. They cook all the food in the same oil cause even the chicken tasted like the shrimp we ordered. We got hit with a gratuity charge too. Also, the drunken shrimp with their “happy hour” doesn’t serve alcohol at the beach. On top of all that they have TVs that are busted with nothing playing. I left this place hungry. DO NOT GO HERE. EVER.

The menu was all tempting. I was in a sandwich mood and I ate the fried shrimp po-boy. The bread reminded me New Orleans. It was delicious and I can't wait to go back. I'm a little confused about the hours as I had once returned during "normal business hours" and they were closed.

If I could give them Zero stars ... that's what this place deserves. I've never been charged a much higher price than what's on the menu. Husband ordered the drunken shrimp price was listed as $22.95 for platter of shrimp, ( maybe eight shrimp total ) potatoes & corn. I ordered the gumbo .... It was watered down rice with a few tiny shrimp no sausage, nothing else in there but rice & tiny shrimp. Final ticket had husbands shrimp dinner as $28.95! I asked for menu & pointed out it was priced at $22.95 .... Owner says we have different prices and he must have received the "other" variety of dish. He said do you want your $6.00 back and I said no if you can live with cheating your customers you can just keep it! Never ... ever will we return to this cheating and nasty place.

This was honestly HANDS DOWN one of the best meals I have EVER had. My mother in law and I shared a crab cake sandwich which was HUGE and a jumbo fried shrimp basket. All the way down to the hushpuppies and coleslaw this was DELICIOUS!! Will be going back before we return home for sure!

Do yourself a favor and just don't go... especially if you have any melanin in your skin. You're welcome.

Too highOnly one server in building who built in his own tip of 36.00.My meal was 28.00 picture showed potatoes but did not come with any and no slaw with it either. Only bottle drinks… paper plates for 28.00. We won’t go again.

If you like fried everything, this is the place for you. I’ll agree with many others that this place is overpriced. Side note, automatic gratuity is added to your bill before your payment is accepted. The baskets we had weren’t terrible, but the chicken poboy we had wasn’t good at all. We only came here because they weren’t busy on a Friday night…..which should have been our clue. And yes, water is bottled, no refills are free. It’s almost as if a few guys got together and said, “ we have some fryers and a building by the beach, let’s open a restaurant.’ There is obviously a reason you can’t find the menu on any webpage…. Oh, and the “Drunken” Shrimp has no liquor license and sells no liquor/beer/wine. So many other options, this should be bypassed.

Veeeeeery simple and to the point. They do not serve alcohol or anything too fancy-it's BYOB The drinks, like soft drinks, are served from a bottle and you are given a plastic cup with ice. we passed this place looking for somewhere else to eat after waiting 2+ hours at the oyster house and decided to give it a shot. We tried getting the crab legs and they didn't have any so we both got the popcorn shrimp dinners. It was great (maybe because of how hungry we were) My husband loved it! The dinners come with huspuppies (2) and fries and coleslaw. Popcorn shrimp dinners were about $15 each and other things were more pricey. Chicken tender dinner was $22

We were looking for a quick place to have dinner (with our dog) and we were in the midst of "rush hour", so our options were pretty slim. We drove by Drunken Shrimp and were a little pessimistic because it looked more like a bar and there were no cars in the lot where all these other restaurants were packed.I took a look at the reviews and food pics and we decided to give it a try. And I'm glad we did.The food was VERY good! And the waiter was a character.Everything on the menu was fried, except they could blacken shrimp. Although it was all fried, it wasn't drenched in oil. It was crisp and the texture of the fish and shrimp were perfect! And well flavored. One surprise with the onion rings was fried banana pepper rings. They were amazing!

There was only a 15 minute wait. PERFECT! While waiting I used my phone twice; to tell my family how long the wait then when to come inside. (Very small waiting area) Once seated the owner/waitress access me of taking pictures of her and talking about her. NOT TRUE!!! Then she proceeded to tell me she was the owner,, what she says goes and she controls and runs things around there!!! She was extremely rude and continued to glare at me. The food was good and service was fast. But not worth the $140. They added a $21.59 tip to our bill . I guess they do that knowing no one would leave a decent tip because of such poor service.

We went here based on the reviews that we found on Google. We were HIGHLY disappointed. I tried to order a couple of things based on the pictures we saw on their Facebook page, only to be told that those dishes were "winter only" dishes. Fried fish and shrimp is winter-only?? So I then ordered just the crab cakes. Nope, sold out of those. Landed on the deep fried crab claws, which were tiny. A lot of them had no meat, it was just the claw shell breaded and fried. My wife opted for the shrimp. It was definitely nothing to write home about. We always support Mom-and-Pop businesses when we go on vacation. Those are usually the best places to eat. This was a let-down. Not to mention for 4 people it was $140 to eat here.I'm sure that they were great once upon a time. I'm not sure what has happened, but I just cannot recommend the place based on the experience that we had here.

Wayyyyyy overpriced. The food was half way decent, but 5 chiken tenders are not worth 22.95. Very weird place too. Seems as the ac wasnt working. The bill was 150 bucks for 5 people, that got some not that great food.

As a family that visits Gulf Shores one to two times a year, we had never ate at The Drunken Shrimp, so naturally we wanted to give it a try. We visited their location yesterday at 4:00pm and the door was locked with all the “open” signs on, with no one in sight inside the restaurant. We tried calling with no answer. So, today we thought we’d give it another go. We had already looked at the menu online and had an idea of what we all wanted to try. We were greeted at the door and were sat immediately. When given the menus, they were almost completely different then the menu online. Drinks were served in plastic cups (if you ordered soda products or tea), water was served in bottle with no cup, ice or with the option of lemon.\nAll of us had decided we wanted, Salmon, from the online menu but to our surprise it was not on the menu we received in the restaurant. We all ordered and received our food. Shrimp and fish were definitely frozen foods!! and for the price of $** dollars a plate, that is unacceptable. My daughter ordered the Gumbo (“best in 10 counties”). It was mostly liquid, a few pieces of shrimp and a spoon full of rice for $** served in a styrofoam cup and was definitely not the best in “10 counties” compared to other she’s had in the area. Overall not worth the money. Our party of 5 received the bill WITH gratuity included totaling the bill to $***. Needless to say, we will not be back.
