We went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was still busy at 2 pm. The food was good and hot. The servers were very friendly. The only exception was that some of the people plating up the food were using their bare hands. I would probably eat there again.

Good food. A little pricey. Ridiculous surcharges! $2.50 for a glass of ice water. 50 cents for a carry-out box or a cup to go.

Dots is the premier soul food restaurant in the Huntsville/Decatur area. The food is good. Authentic. Reasonably priced. I love that it's served cafeteria style. It makes for a faster service. I'm always amazed that other similar restaurants don't adopt the cafeteria style serving method. In today's busy world, time is very important.

I mean, the food is ok but the service is a bit to be desired. It could also be cleaner especially the servers and the utensils. I know it's cafeteria style but so was Morrison's and I remember that staff being on point. Hmmm sometimes a smile and being friendly goes a long way.

The food was good, the price was fair, and the portions were average. Years ago, this would be expected of any establishment. Nowadays, it's considered amazingly good. Whatever. The only complaint I have was the rude reaction I got from one of the servers when, after getting my food, I continued on to get my soda. Well, you would think I was robbing the place. I was sternly and rudely TOLD to sit down, I'll bring your drink to you.The location of their soda machine positions it to look like a self-service soda fountain like every other fast food place. The regulars already know what to do, but myself and two other customers after me did not. All of us were TOLD, like misbehaving school children, to sit down. If you're going to put your soda fountain where it looks EXACTLY like a self-serve station, don't be upset when that's exactly what customers try to do. Tone down the attitude just a little.
