Came here for lunch by a happy accident. I had heard of this place but had never been. What a great spot for lunch! It was not crowded so we were able to get a table and order right away even though it was noon. They have a regular menu which has standard American fare like club sandwich, chicken salad, etc. The kid was thrilled and got the chicken salad. Their alternate menu focuses on a different country every month. This month was France. Hubs and I ordered of the French menu and got the monte cristo sandwich. It was very good! I love that they served it with a side of strawberry preserves. Seems weird but it was fantastic on the sandwich. There were several options for a side like chips, pasta salad or fruit salad. I got the pasta salad. I didn't love it but I honestly don't love pasta salad anyway. The sandwich was plenty. I love the concept of this restaurant. Interior is nice. They have booths that oddly sit very low but they are fine. The wait for our food was a little long but since there was no other wait it was fine. The lady who waited on us was the sweetest. Made us feel welcome the second we walked in the door. I would come back again just because of her. Customer service is so important! If you haven't been here, do check it out!

I love the different ethnic dishes highlighted each month. The food is good and the owner is just delightful. Try the lavender lemonade for sure You order at the counter, sir down and your is brought to you on old airline carts So cute! We will try to go every month when the menu changes.

I find this to be the best restaurant in the area. Family meals are excellent and not expensive.

A great peace to eat with a really cool concept. They change up their menu all the time with food from all over the world. And they bring the food out in airline food trays. The staff here is so nice too. If you like good food, kind and personable staff, and a casual dining atmosphere, you won't do much better than Customs Cafe

Food was delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The owner brought our food to the table on an airline stewardesses cart. Each month they cook food from different countries. We had schnitzel, German potato salad, cabbage salad and Apple strudel. Yummy!

This place is spectacular! It's a must if you are in the area. Teresa is very sweet, accomadatting and worldly. This is a vintage restaurant with international cuisine each month. We sampled German fare while here and it was amazing. The restaurant is clean, refreshing with post cards from different places that patrons have visited and it's for anyone who would like to contribute. It also has a chalk board with welcoming thoughts from 29 different nationalities that have visited here, along with clocks representing different time zones along the walls. Everything is house made, delivered on an airplane stewardess cart which is unique in its self. This place place boasts the fact that is family owned and is shared throughout the Riverchase area in Hoover. I can't wait until my next visit, next month is a different signature dish for you to enjoy!

I don't know how I've been in Hoover for as long as I have and I haven't ever heard about these guys. Driving by there was a 'NOW OPEN' sign out by Highway 31 and I had to investigate. So glad I popped in to check out what these guys had available. I was able to get a booth and the employee (maybe an owner) gave me the rundown on everything - daily menu as well as the monthly international menu....what? Yes, they provide a new international menu every month. This month German. Next month pencil me in for Louisiana Creole ... April Swedish, count me in then as well! Ok, let's be honest, I'm checking them out every month. What better way to experience food from other cultures than to go to a cafe that has truly legit good food done the right way. I don't know that I've ever had Roasted Bratwurst before, especially what would be considered real German Bratwurst. Really good! Nice portion sizes, cooked to perfection - done all the way through - juicy - everything about it was so good. Prices were good and the service was top notch. Really happy I found out about this place. Looking forward to trying out the monthly international offerings. Try these guys out!

Incredible food, atmosphere, and they take covid seriously. The thing I like the most is in addition to their everyday menu they also offer a few international dishes and switch them out once a month I believe. I just had a Moroccan dish yesterday and it was fabulous! The owner Teresa is a joy and her son is an incredible chef.

Wow, this place is amazing! It is also family owned which I I love. I ordered my food ahead and the sweet woman took my order. When I arrived the woman knew who I was. The food was delicious. It was hot the salad was fresh and the coconut cake mmmmmm. Best place ever.

One of our favorite places to eat in Hoover. The food is interesting and delicious. The Swedish meatballs are a favorite for my son. The service is always great. For those who liked the golden era of flying, you may even have your meal served on an airline galley beverage cart!
