I read a small paragraph about Capriotti's and on a whim convinced hubs to drive 40 minutes today to try this new restaurant out. It is located in Madison in the Clift Farm Community. I had no idea today was their first day to open to the public. My husband and I were the 3rd customers. The interior is small with limited seating so plan on to go orders and no large group gatherings. I am ok with that. These days people go out to eat sick passing COVID, flu and RSV so I don't mind. We were warmly greeted by Jennifer, the owner. She was very pleasant and helpful. We drove a good distance and decided to order a few subs. Their rolls are of the Italian bread variety used in Philly for cheesesteaks. The bread is soft and delicious! They do not have wheat or gluten free bread. We ended up ordering a small grilled Italian, small capastrami, medium turkey, medium cheesesteak, and large flat fries to go. The classic cheesesteak was excellent. The meat is thicker, seasoned well and there's double the meat compared to other places in Madison County. The grilled Italian was good. I would order it again but I wouldn't heat the lettuce, tomato and onions. They turned to mush in my opinion. The capastrami is pastrami with mayonnaise based slaw, Russian dressing and Swiss cheese. I would order that again without the slaw and Russian dressing and when I returned home I would add German or Dijon mustard for a delicious hot pastrami with the only thing missing is the rye bread. I didn't see an option for rye bread. The turkey is to be reviewed as I haven't tried it yet. I will update this review soon. The flat fries are a tasty first for me. I haven't had fries cut this way before and I enjoyed them. They are thinly cut, flat and tasted great fried in fresh oil. If you are in the Madison area and enjoy sub sandwiches, please stop by Capriotti's. Jennifer will help you with your order and the food really is good. You will be happy you took home subs to go and your family will be too.

I visited the Grand Opening today and was Customer #1. I ordered the Small Sausage and it was delicious. The bread was fresh and the Italian sausage was very good. The only critique is I wish the ingredients were slightly warmer. The service was friendly and quick with only a few first-day jitters. The interior is small so plan to get your sammies to go. There are a couple of tables outside for your dining pleasure. The price is a little high, but food inflation is out of control. For the small sammy and a medium drink, the total was $15.19 plus a 10% tip brought the total to $16.58.

I, Matthew J had quite the jaggy encounter today with my boss “LLC LLC”. To my horrendous misjudgment of how speedy construction takes in Alabama, this sub shop that I love so dearly, is NOT complete yet. The website a week ago stated it would be open September 25! How dare Capriotti’s sub shop lie to people? This vicious, vial, and heartless act has left me in a state of skepticism and doubt! Will it live up to the hype that it has once bestowed in my heart. I don’t know.Would just like to know when is the grand opening and can I be the first costumer ❤️
