Stopped by last night as I was driving through Montgomery. The sign on the door said,"Closed until further notice" They appeared to be remodeling and I hope that's all. It would be a loss if it's for any other reason.

Hard to find. If you are not familiar. Worth the search though. At the time of our visit social distancing was still the norm. They had clearly eliminated seating capacity. Alabama legislature was in session. This was a "go to place" for legislators and lobbyists. The wife and I were amazed about the free exchange of information. It was fun being a "true fly on the wall. " So how was the food? Best seafood I had our entire trip. We had spent considerable time along the west coast of Florida trying all it had to offer. Then here we are several miles from the coast and had the best seafood of all. The wife got pompano and I had snapper. Excellent. Seafood gumbo was very good. We were not served bread with the meal. I do not know if this was an oversight or Covid related. I guess I could have asked, but didn't I just say the fish was the best we had? It was huge. It was yummy and ultimately the bread would have not been worth the limited amount of stomach place left.

Sadly, due to the death of owner/chef Bud Skinner in April, 2021, Jubilee is closed, probably forever. Jubilee's many fans who packed the place for years hope that Bud's family will find a way to keep it going. Scott wasn't just the bartender, he kept track of everybody in the place. It was great to walk in the door and have him hand me a glass of Chardonnay without having to ask. The cooks in the kitchen must know all the recipes and how to prepare them, so we just hope someone will step up and resurrect what many thought was the best seafood in the city. It was always fun having the servers ask if I were having my usual Shrimp Remoulade followed by Oysters Jubilee. Having spent a lot of time talking with Bud at our table on our last visit to Jubilee, it was shocking to learn of his death just a week later. Thornton Clark

I'm from FL so I've been eating seafood my whole life. I've also traveled quite a bit. I think I've eaten seafood in about every coastal state in the US and also on a couple of islands and I can say this was one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever eaten at. Very pleased
