I sat at the bar for 20 minutes just waiting to be acknowledged while people to either side of me who came in after were served. I was really excited to try the place out after the reviews I read but there's no getting around bad service.
Waited an hour and a half after getting there shortly after it opened (430pm) and was seated a little after 6pm. We watched every single group of people that came in After us get seated Before us. The difference? They all had 4 people, we had 5. They REFUSED to seat us and pull up an extra chair. And the food was not worth the $150 we had to pay. It was good, but too expensive especially after being made to wait that long. Horrible way to spend my sons 21st birthday!.. VERY disappointed as I've been going here since they opened and it wasn't because of lack of staff for sure.... I no longer live in Tuscaloosa but made it a point (on a Wednesday much less) to celebrate a huge birthday and our whole evening was wasted. Horrible.
I remember my parents eating here when I was little. Now it's my husband's favorite Italian place. I have a friend who has traveled Europe and she loves how authentic this place is. Great Atmosphere, Amazing Food.
Great food, great wine, great service!
Get ready for the longest wait you can imagine just to eat average food. The hostess was obviously having a less than stellar day judging by her face and communication style. Our welcome was greeted with a misspelling of our name and shame on use for trying to help correct it. After 45 minutes of waiting we were seating in the back and greeted by the best young waitress who helped earn this review an extra star. When asked which wine is best and what they pair well with she become flustered and let us know she couldn’t really help due to not being 21 and no experience in taste. My husband continued to push until I finally had to step in and give the poor girl time to just pick one. A major mistake on our part because our pick did not go well with our Cesar salad or Pasta dish due to dryness. If you like pesto the stuffed mushrooms are the best part of our meal. Our side salads were very tasty however too much dressing is a thing and just did not go well with the wine. Our entree the Florentine was ok at best. They were extremely busy and maybe this was just an off night for service (hostess) and flavor. Our total was a normal price for outings so unlike others, I will not complain about pricing. I would say that you should definitely try to visit when they aren’t crazy slammed.
The food is good but the service is horrible. The hostess made us sit in the back, in a dark corner by the restrooms and kitchen when there were more lighted seats available. We asked to move; After that the waitress (Taylor) was rude to my mother and rushed her order and decision. I had been here before my mother hadn’t. When she returned she spoke to my mother slowly as if she was stupid and asked “if we had made a complete order decision now?” I understand that this is a business and businesses are successful by making money but you DO NOT have to be rude.
Service, service, service! Our waitress was very busy, but you would never know with her attention to detail and attentiveness. We ordered the pork medallion special and classic pasta. The pork was a larger size than I expected, but oh my goodness, savory due to the tenderness and the flavor. Making an accommodation by adding more vegetables, was not a problem. The pasta was yummy. And we had to finish it off with their famous white chocolate bread pudding. That dessert left us speaking in "mmmmm"'s.
I always love the food I have here, wonderful and authentic Italian. It's a little pricey and the wait is long, but it is definitely worth it. It's our favorite date night spot.
I can’t believe how amazing this place is! The people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet and our server, Aarika, was so helpful and informative. It was my wife’s birthday and they helped to make it one that we will never forget.
Me and my wife are out for dinner. Ben come here about 20 years.
Delicious! Simple, elegant, and the perfect spot to satisfy your pasta cravings. Their specialities are absolutely amazing and they never disappoint. A lovely atmosphere and a phenomenal staff - highly recommend!
Our hostess happily greeted us and kept us informed of the wait time. Server was very friendly and attentive - actually all the staff at DePalma's were very friendly. Kudo's for that! Charming dining room but a bit noisy. I chose the Veal Marsala and unfortunately I was disappointed. With my first bite I was confused as I couldn't taste any Marsala and I've never had onions on a Marsala dish. Wasn't horrible but just not what I was expecting. My husband had the Pasta Depalma. He enjoyed it but said it was a bit bland.
Extremely good food and service! The wait time wasn't too bad either. Will be coming back soon!
Great pizza...All the pasta is delicious....
The location and atmosphere is charming and the wait staff very friendly and attentive. The menu was diverse and I had a hard time deciding what to have. I settled on the De Palma with angel hair pasta, mushrooms, and sausage, it was so bland, and a combination of stuck together angel hair, and semi boiled sausage. I wish I had ordered something else, because everything else smelled so amazing in there
