“Absolutely LOVE this place! The owners are so incredibly nice and the sushi/hibachi is probably the best I've ever had! I cannot say enough great things about this place! We have been here a couple time already and can't wait to go back!“
“The service was so speedy! The kind man who welcomed us was nice and accommodating. We ordered, sat down, and had our food and drinks within 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken hibachi with clear soup and the salad. It was fantastic to have only been $14.“
“Mom and Pop! Great price! Friendly server. Chicken lunch entree was good, except veggies included only onions, zucchini, little chopped cabbage and 2-3 slices of mushroom. No carrots, no broccoli. Yum Yum sauce is delicious with a hint of horseradish. Dining room was long and narrow, but clean; however, just next to the grill so noisy. If you seek private conversation ask for a table in the back. *Order ginger dressing on the side of your salad, as there was far too much on mine.“
“Probably the best kept secret of this area. Their sushi is always soo fresh, but don't skip out on the hot food. The salmon bowl and gyoza or crab rangoons is my go to order. Don't worry if you have picky eaters either, you'll be stealing the chicken nuggets & fries off their plate. They're THAT good!“
“We arrived about 8:40 and they close at 9:30. They were already dead and I thought they might have been closed actually. I picked this location because of the reviews, pictures, and menu. But, when we got there there were no hibachi grills and we almost left because of it. We did decide to stay and eat. We ordered two hibachi chicken meals with no vegetables and double rice and got a side order of hibachi noodles to split. The soup and salad came out first and the soup was very good but fairly different than most hibachi places, it tasted more beef based and had a little tang almost like spicy. The salad dressing was awful. When our food came out I instantly noticed the portions were smaller than most actual hibachi restaurants. The chicken was decent but didn’t have the texture of chicken when cooked on the hibachi grills and didn’t have nearly enough teriyaki on it. The rice was ok but had a weird smoky flavor. The noodles were actually really good. Service was kind of awful but I figure it’s because it was so late and it seems as though they get mostly to go orders later in the evening so they didn’t really wanna deal with a dine in customer ??♀️ it wasn’t the worst hibachi place I’ve been to but it was no where near the best. I probably wouldn’t come back unless we just absolutely can not find a real hibachi place around this side of town that tastes good too.“
“This hidden gem nestled away in Mountain Brook hit every check on the list. The atmosphere, service, drinks and food is unmatched. Abhi has the best sushi and MoMo's in the city....no the State! I can't wait to try their other dishes, they smelled amazing coming out! I will definitely be back!“
“O sushi is the place to go if you want to eat real Japanese food!I've tried chicken katsu and shrimp and vegetable tempura bento box and also ordered dragon roll.Chicken is nice and tender. Tempura is very authentic real Japanese!Sushi is very good because sushi rice is so good and fish is very fresh and tasty!I also tried yakitori chicken which is nice and delicious with good taste sauce.I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to eat good Japanese food!I will definitely come back and try more menus!“
“Moved to the area not long ago from Nashville. We were concerned about finding a good sushi place and have tried several around Hoover with not finding the right place yet. Tonight we decided to try Unagi and we are so glad we did! Edamame was fresh, wife had the Hometown Roll and I had the Big Al with Soypaper. They were both delish! Service was just as good. Also had the house ginger salad to round out an overall GREAT experience and meal! We will be back for sure and the bonus is living withing 2 mins. Thanks for a great experience!“
“I pulled a non-Karen today and asked for the manager. I explained to her how amazed I was at their food and how utterly fantastic it is. I ordered an unagi poke bowl and a salmon Maki roll via GrubHub, then I went there in person and ordered the unagidon and salmon roll, and today I ordered the steak teppanyaki, salad, seaweed salad (OMG - seriously? BEST I'VE EVER HAD), and got the tonkotsu ramen with menma. She remembered me from my order today and when I was there last week. Let's talk about the salmon roll - absolutely fresh and filled with thick pieces of salmon and perfectly cooked sushi rice. The rice was a compliment rather than the main to the roll. The steak? Chef's kiss. perfectly seasoned and tender with amazing veggies. Serving size? Goodness, well deserved of the price. The seaweed salad? OMG. usually, I'll get a teensy bit for the same price. Here, you get a good chunk of it but it's served over romaine lettuce with chopped cucumbers. It's definitely a true salad. Now, let's talk about the tonkotsu. The chasu pork is seared perfectly and absolutely delectable. It's also served with green onions, an excellent half of a shoyu egg, and I added menma (bamboo shoots). The broth is excellent and you can tell it has been carefully taken care of (a tad garlicky, but that's fine with me), silky, and says "I'm your comfort food" over and over again. Lastly, the service shows how much they care about their food and their customers. Like I said, I pulled a Non-Karen and spoke to the manager and sang praises for their food and service. I now have my favorite Japanese spot now that I'm back in Birmingham. PS. their unagidon is on fire! Yum!“
“I liked Hibachi before new management and I still like them...a Lot. The food is really tasty and my son craves the egg rolls. They are the BEST. Not too fat and not too little. The only new item I was not impressed with was the chicken sticks. They were little tiny strips of meat and not breaded. My favorite are the egg rolls, crab rangoon, and the dumplings (fried). I really like the Teriyaki bowls and Asian bowls. I did not give 5 overall stars because of the prices. Some items are restaurant prices, especially the egg rolls...at almost $3 a piece, that adds up quick. But, I usually splurge on payday since sons and I like theirs more than anybody.“
“Best Rock-in-Roll sushi in Alabama and I've tried them all. The funny part is they are the smallest location!!! A+++ best service, best food, best portions. Parking is tricky but worth it. By the way that's the amazing Ahi tuna salad with sweet chili sauce. I eat it EVERY time. If Ahi tuna is your thing it's a must try!! Sooo fresh!“
“Absolutely incredible. Such a wonderful experience and delicious food.Posting pictures that give do no justice to the flavor and appearance of the food. The food coupled with the service make this place a no brainer when wanting sushi and unique food options with an Asian flare.Vegetarian options: Pescatarian and vegetarian options abound.“
“First time here and tried the sushi nachos. Such a great dish that you can’t get just anywhere! The flavor was incredible but the value wasn’t so great. I spent about $15 a piece for my meal and for each of my son’s meals. They got the sushi burritos and rated them a 6/10. One of my sons immediately wondered aloud about their profit margin.I would definitely go back but hope they increase the amount of food for the price.“
“When I saw this place was reopening, I actually screamed.Food is amazing, portions are big, and prices are great. They seriously have top tier teryaki chicken + shrimp, best yum yum sauce I've had in Birmingham, and amazing lo mein. I haven't had anything that isn't amazing. 10/10. Can't wait to have my bi-weekly Ooka takeout nights back!“
“We tried their ramen here for lunch and both of our ramens were so good! Our waitress was attentive. The food came out quickly as well as the check at the end. The ramen was $15 per soup and it was well worth it. We might be back for dinner :“
“Just tried Ryu out with my boss. We were both so impressed! The sushi chef and server could literally not have been friendlier. I loved that they both seemed to really love being there which is so great for your dining experience. The menu was extensive with a lot of both the classic rolls you expect as well as some fun new and interesting rolls.“
“This is a great Japanese restaurant on Hwy 280. The service is some of the best in town and everything we’ve tried on the menu has been delish!! Tonight we visited after not eating here for months and they remembered our order, our preferences, even our favorite table. We had the filet mignon and shrimp with mixed vegetables, noodles, and fried rice. The meal came with a salad with ginger dressing and a bowl of miso soup and we added an order or edamame. Perfect meal, attentive service, and reasonably priced!Kid-friendliness: Kids love this place and especially for birthdays! They have a big gong they ring and they sing and serve the birthday visitor a sparkler in a dessert.“
“Went here tonight with a couple friends and the food and service was terrible. Our waiter was very rude after we mentioned our food tasting funny.. the waiters comment was “have y’all ever eaten here before” Very disappointed to only be told sorry and charged $25 for my food that only a bite was ate. Very disappointed to say the least.“
“the food was amazing! I personally never liked sushi but after today I cannot make that claim. The place was clean and our server , Brandon, was super nice and helpful. The food was amazing and that's from a person who does not eat sushi ever. But now I am a changed person, thanks to sushi village , I am a sushi person!“
“First time having this place and overall it was pretty good! I’ve gotta say the edamame was mid, but the steak yakisoba teriyaki bowl was fantastic. (i got extra house made sauce on the side and it was perfect) Also, i’m really sad i didn’t get one of those red fork chop things in my togo bag :( maybe next time.“
“This is my favorite place to go get some fresh sushi. We went on the day after Valentines Day when every where was still booked out and we got in with no wait or anything. The menu are very cool they are made out of old records covers. I have had acdc Aerosmith led Zeppelin and more just a great “
“Food was delicious and actually did taste fresh, as the namesake claims. I got the Loni (Roni?) roll and the power salad. Both were filling and well worth the price for the amount of food received. Will certainly put them on my UberEATS order rotation!“
“We each enjoyed a meal from the lunch menu, while is a value meal. We ordered 2 roll meal which includes a salad. We also ordered fried gyozos (dumplings). We ordered a tuna and avocado roll, a salmon and avocado roll, a Philly Roll and a sweet potato roll. Everything was right on point this time. Sometimes the consistency is not there but no complaints here!“
“Best sushi place, I’ve ever experienced. With out question. I expressed how much I enjoyed coming there and got a Free desert on the house.Dubai Roll add cucumber and tuna SashimiThe serving sizes are EXCELLENT, and the Sahimi was thick cuts. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDKid-friendliness: Offered a booster seat and kid friendly chop sticks and dessert with sprinkles my son(3yr) loved it“
