Years ago when I worked in Little Rock, Scallions Chicken Salad and Cheese Soup Special was my lunch time staple. I loved it. To this day, I can’t find anyone who makes chicken salad dressing as well as Scallions, and I’ve looked all over the world. This week on my visit to Little Rock and to satisfy my nostalgia, I stopped by for lunch again. The cheese soup and chicken salad dressing were marvelous as ever. Maybe my palate has changed with age, but the chicken was tougher than I like in chicken salad and the cream cheese in the finger sandwiches were a bit too salty, hence the four stars for food. In other reviews, I read that the alternative to finger sandwiches, poppy seed muffin, is very good so I just made the wrong choice.The atmosphere and service were also terrifically charming. I’d recommend anyone visiting Little Rock give Scallions a try.

I am totally disappointed, and a little surprised at the way I was treated with my wife and international guests. I thought it was strange the way the server was so snappy and rude with us as we were getting a to go order after our friend just had a baby. But I just overlooked it. Then when it was time to pay, I was told that I didn't tip the waitress our last time there with 6 of us. I was so surprised, as I don't tip less than 20% on any of our bills, even when I don't pay the bill. My wife and I have been visiting here every since we have found out about it, and have taken guest before. They have never said anything about a tip before. I explained to the owner my disgust, and he changed his whole attitude. And not just telling me I didn't tip in front of my wife who saw me put the money on the table, but insisted that since I didn't pay the bill I didn't tip. I had already decided I was going to leave a tip anyway because of the lie of the waitress, but the owner wanted to refuse me to leave the tip. So I just set the $20 on the table, and left. I usually never leave these reviews, because I would rather work it out with the owner. However, this was so disgusting. I travel all over the world, and I've been treated poorly in many places, but this has received the most recent 1st place trophy of "let the customer know you don't want them to patronize your business."I pray they will consider the way they look at their customers and at least continue to hide your dislikes and "act" like you like people. Even if I didn't tip one time, why would you dare treat people that way. I know it could be more than a tip, and I am not naive, but just wanted to let others know.
