Firstly, they failed to greet us or the other two parties that walked in right ahead of us. The unwelcoming atmosphere almost prompted us to leave but we gave it a try nonetheless.What brought us in was their advertising of sweet savory waffles and the uniqueness of the combinations.I ordered the Tangy Waffles.These waffles were the most tasteless waffles I’ve ever had. I could tell the batter had some decent foundation because the waffle was very fluffy, but severely lacked flavor/sweetness.Also, the eggs lacked seasoning and flavor. Then they just plopped raw spinach with tasteless chipotle sauce drizzled on top.Each item on the plate had no flavor/seasoning therefore, the dish lacked anything to combine the “sweet and savory” items together.

Mediocre food and service, if you are going to advertise chilaquiles at least fry them as the customer orders. It’s the worst chilaquiles I’ve ever had, cold pre fried chips with no taste on the sauce. They specialize in waffles and I’ve had way better at holiday inn hotel.

This is a warning for all real Mexicans it is not real mexican place it’s modified to lazy food. When I was sitting there eating my so called “chilaquiles” made with chips not totopos or tortillas and some bottled red liquid they poor on the chips with overcooked eggs I looked around the place and it’s not Hispanics stopping at this place that’s why it has 4.9!! I left there feeling robbed! My kids waffles were paper thin the syrup has an after taste all of the eggs were overcooked. The lady is nice but the guy cooking on the flattop is rude he has no customer service he talks to you like he hates his job. DONT WASTE YOUR MoNEY HERE!

One word…WOW!! The food here is absolutely delicious. The gorditas tasted as if abuelita herself made them, it’s obvious they’re hand made. The waffles are the most light and fluffy ones I’ve ever had. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. I wish we had a Madrez in Phoenix but this place is so good I’ll be making the two hour drive to come eat here again!
My family and I visited town on vacation and we were lodging close by after the AmTrak ride to town. This spot was amazing, from the initial atmosphere, the smells, and the staff. The food was unreal, our family truly enjoyed it. We have very different ideas of breakfast food, and the menu checked all the boxes for us. Thank you to the Madrez Team for a great experience and quality food.Kid-friendliness: The staff members were extra kind and engaging to all, including a light teasing and some good laughs.
