We just returned from dinner at the McKellips in Mesa location. While our server was nice, the food was disappointing. We were told it was a 10-20 minute wait. That's no big deal for a Friday night at 8pm. The host seemed frazzled and finally sat us at a table that had been empty the whole time. He did apologize by saying they were busy with large parties and that our order may take a while to come out as the kitchen was backed up. It didn't seem that busy but still, to be expected on a Friday night. I ordered the 5oz sirloin with grilled shrimp and it was okay. My cousin ordered the 5oz sirloin with the coconut shrimp. She ordered her sirloin medium rare but it came out medium well and her coconut shrimp was over cooked. It seemed like the food runner and host were extremely hyper and talked fast.

We just had a bad experience at Outback Steakhouse. as a matter of fact, the last couple times we've gone has been terrible to the point where we're never going to one ever again. The locations have been in Mesa, AZ East Valley. My husband ordered a bloomin' burger medium. It came to the table very well, the bloomin onion was mush and it bloomin sucked! I ordered the prime rib sandwich and if that was prime rib, it was the worst cut on the planet. It was some cheap, thinly pounded beef way over cooked. The only thing we liked were the fries. The service was poor. she never once came back to see if our food was any good and she was nowhere to be found. Just horrible! Years ago, Outback used to be good! You can do better than this!!

Very friendly service and staff, and the food is always amazing! Some other Outbacks have a tendency of over cooking their blooming onions, but this place does it right EVERY TIME! I also ordered the steak and lobstertail, and both were perfect, I appreciate the staff here and perfer this location over others. Thank you for always being a good experience!

I've eaten at Outback many times through the years, but this was a frustrating experience. Upon our Saturday night arrival, we quickly learned that all the empty seats (perhaps about 1/4 empty) where due to being short handed. If those seats had been available for seating, everyone waiting would not have had a wait. I have to believe that having so many empty seats was very costly for the francise and corportion as a whole. From loss of food and drink revenue, to poor reviews. I should note that we witnessed multiple parties complaining about waiting for tables, with so many open ones.The two of us put our names on the list, but watched the bar for an opening with 2 seats together, since there were only 3 open seats scattered around the bar. We finally got 2 seats at the bar, but after waiting at least 10 minutes the bartender never acknowledged us. Plates and glasses from previous partron sat there untouched. One bartender for the entire restaurant is crazy. (Perhaps if the hostess had helped to bus the bar, then the bartender could have attended to customers in a reasonable timeframe. The bar is where a good portion of profit can be made, only if there's an attentive bartender. As long as the drinks are flowing, the wait for food isn't as bad and the establishment makes money.) Thankfully, the hostess approached us to ask if we would still like a table because one just opened up. Since we had been waiting for so long without service we figured we give a table a try.Now on to a positive note. Our waiter Jason was one of the best I've had. He was quick to wait on us, get our drinks in a very timely manner, and very attentive the whole time. He is the only reason why we would consider going back for another try. I'm still trying to figure out how he got our drinks so quickly (within minutes) compared to no service at the bar. As has always been the case, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, I felt I had to base the number of review stars for service on what happened before Jason's service.

December - March at this Mesa, AZ location there's always a wait to be seated, but the food is outstanding. We went to dinner here on March 25th and there was maybe a dozen people there. I guess now that the snowbirds are gone they don't care about the quality of the food. first out salads looked like the lettuce had been frozen it was droopy and brown. We didn't eat it. I ordered the Kingsland steak & pasta. The steak was over cooked which never happens, they usually do steak perfect. The pasta was covered with so much parsley you would have thought it was a salad. a mouth full of parsley is not yummy!!
We had a waiter by the name of Coco, very sweet, funny, and especially enjoyed her energy it's been a long long time since I've had an excellent experience like this with my family. Very fast and friendly I highly recommend you ask for her. I'm telling you best experience with this young lady thanks Coco you are a delight. -The Navarro Family
