Had some delicious sushi here today and everything tasted great. We will likely come here again on our next trip into the area.

The kids did not like their fried rice. I tried it and there was no flavor. When my husband informed this to the lady she got very upset. This is so sad because my husband was a fan of this place and he had been there at least 3 times already.

A friend and I had been regulars at Sekai for many years. We tried to go every other Friday and always enjoyed our time there. The waitstaff were amazing. Always would greet us, knew where we liked to sit, and knew our order. The other Friday we went to our favourite spot. At one point we noticed it was starting to get busy and we tried to drink our sake bombs a little faster (but we are not about to chug our drinks) As we were getting ready to leave, the manager came over and told us we were not welcome to come anymore on Fridays as they couldn't predict when they would get busy. Excuse me? We were shocked that despite being regulars we were asked to not come back just on Fridays incase it got busy? We were done eating when it got busy and could have moved to the bar to finish our drinks if asked, but we weren't. His solution was to tell us to not to come back on Fridays. Well guess what, we won't come back any day and will tell others to not come back. I've never been so disrespected for going to a place regularly.

It's small and tucked away, but definitely worth the effort to locate it. The sushi is excellent and the menu is huge. Come hungry.

Kind service, good sushi. Nice calm ambiance. The parking lot is a bit ominous

Went at 9pm when the hours say they’re open until 9:30. Waited for a couple minutes and was told they were closed. Please update your hours so people don’t waste 20 minutes coming out to eat at your restaurant and then you turn them down. Very disappointing.

Overall my family loves Sekai! They have great sushi and I believe probably some of the best sushi I can find in Mesa. However, there's a few things to call out. They have struggled with large parties. When we go with 6 people or more don't plan on eating together. They tend to deliver the food as it arrives so one person may be finished eating before someone else even gets their food. Secondly, this is absolutely true if you love their sashimi salad as I do! It's great just don't order 6 of them at once! The second item to call out is in regards to allergies. Recently my girlfriend came with us to eat sushi however she's highly allergic to seafood/shellfish. I called ahead and confirmed they had fish free items including the yakasoba and teriyaki Chicken, however when she was eating the chicken teriyaki she did have an allergic reaction. I realize it can be challenging have a seafood allergy at a sushi restaurant, however was disappointing to hear about the reaction. We're not sure exactly what might have cause it be she's had reactions to cross contamination including chicken cooked on the same grill as fish or being cut by a knife used on fish. I'm unfortunately not even able to kiss her for hours after eating sushi so definitely a challenge. I appreciate Sekai attempting to accommodate the allergy, but think it might be good to ensure absolute 0 cross contamination in the future.
