Boxed sides: To start it's a fantastic experience, the steak is cooked just the way you like it (because you get to cook it) but the rest leaves a lot to be desired. They also did an update with the decor/inside and it is much better than I remember. However, the negatives are that the sides are worse than basic, we got the Mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. I'm pretty sure they are the generic box/powder version you can get at the store (yes they are truly that bad). When I'm paying$40 to cook my own food, I'd expect the few items actually prepared by the kitchen to be at the very least on par with lesser places like Denny's or Red Robin, jaw dropping amazing would obviously be even better. It is clear that people only come here once (the server didn't know what to do when someone told them they had been there before) and it's clear why. Very minor changes would go A LONG way to get repeat customers. 1. Fix the sides, I can get better options at Chili's for a fraction of the cost. 2. Offer a little spice rack with 10-20 spices people can really get creative with, put your logo on it and sell them! 3. Butter: have you heard of butter on steaks? Offer butter with steaks on the side, whatever. Also drinks were way too strong (not alcohol content but the sweet/sour flavor) that you'll only drink 1 (if you even finish it) and typically I'm all for that flavor.

Absolutely WORST experience ever!!! From the very first second the waiter was very disinterested in even being polite. Acted like we were bothering him just to be there. Mumbled the directions of how to cook the steaks (we ordered the 12 oz $50 per person filet and this place only has bland dry seasons and nothing else to cook your steak with other than a rock. The place is hot and uncomfortable even before the food comes. We had to ask twice for steak sauce that came in a small plastic cup, never even offering to refill our drinks and was chatting with the other staff the whole time and ignoring us . Had we any idea of anything that could have saved this bland piece of meat we would not have been able to get it to the table.then he act d bothered to even bring us a box for leftovers which since I don’t have my dog I figured to just leave it on the table. On the way out almost slipped on the wet floor as I guess they decided to mop early while customers were still eating! If there was a negative number I would rate it minus 10!! Worst experience ever

We live in Mesa and have been to the Steak and Stone several times. We would like for them to be successful, but they need to do a complete review of their business model. Their nod to reservations is to recommend you call ahead. That would be a convenience in a very crowded restaurant. We did the call ahead and when we got there, the place was only about a third occupied. More people might have come but they could not get reservations. The next indicator of how glad they are that you are there is the little sign on the table that says if you use plastic to pay, there will be a 3% surcharge. That is just annoying. The waitress came and took our drink order and our food order at the same time. That was nice except that our food came in about 5 minutes; but 15 minutes later we had to flag down another waiter to find out what had happened to our cocktails. The fact that we had had to get our drinks from someone else did not increase her attentiveness or the frequency of her visits. The food was ok. The steaks were decent. Salad was fresh. The vent fans need to be serviced badly. When the steaks are being cooked on rocks, the smoke builds badly and has begun to accumulate on all the fixtures. The final affront to the customer is the payout. The little machine the waitress brings to the table calculates the minimum suggested tip of 18% on top of the total that includes the 3% surcharge for plastic. The idea of the Steak and Stone is quirky. The location is interesting. But when you are telling people to cook their own food, you have to make sure that they know the rest of the experience is going to be special. The experience was memorable but not special.

Stopped in during non-prime hours. Took almost 10 minutes before someone acknowledged our presence (and I couldn't find anyone). After that it was a nice experience. A view watching airplanes come and go on the runway is always fun. Make sure you get at least one stone cooking option. Good prices, eventually great service, and good food. When you're looking for somewhere new to explore, don't be afraid to stop in and try this place!

Fantastic birthday lunch for my son after visiting the museum. He got the steak and cooked it to his own liking. The owner was so sweet and made sure our food and experience was the best! We will be back.

We were a party of 4 that waited over an hour. Recommend call prior to get a spot on the waiting list. Not a reservation. Cooking your own steak on a hot stone was different! Service was good. The building is next to a small airport so you can watch the planes land on take off.

Went for the first time to celebrate my son in law's birthday, and it was the perfect time! They have call ahead seating, which is great. What a fun time to cook your steak exactly how you want on a 500 degree stone, and you can season how you want with choices such as barbacoa, garlic, and a traditional steak seasoning. It's all to your preference, as you do it yourself. It sounds intimidating, but so easy. The steaks are tender and delicious. We had the filets, sirloin, and ribeyes. They also have fish and shrimp, as well as BBQ and sandwiches. Meals come with 2 generous sides. Friendly staff. Casual atmosphere. We are already planning our next visit!

We went on a Sunday at about 4 to avoid a wait. We were seated promptly by friendly hostess. Shannon soon appeared and began her excellent service. Our food choices were salmon, prime rib, and ribeye steak. We enjoyed the experience of cooking our meal on the hot stones. Food was delicious. We were celebrating a birthday and Shannon brought out a huge brownie covered with ice cream and whipped cream. We are visiting from Illinois and hope to return again soon.

We enjoyed our anniversary here, the food was good. The steaks were tasty, but nothing overly amazing. We had the 12oz ribeye and steak bites along with side salad, Mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes mushroom medley and a side salad. The salad was fine, the Mac and cheese was tasty but got cold really quick as well as the mushrooms. The mashed potatoes were great. We finished the meal with the brownie ala mode. It was a large portion of brownie and ice cream. I think if the brownie was brought out on a hot stone as well that would be amazing.

We had a large party, and the staff did a good job to settling us down and giving us instructions. Ordering was super simple and of course the foods amazing, if it’s not then it’s the cooks fault, in this case, you lol. Very nice experience, never tried anything like it. Pro tip, don’t wear nice clothes because it’ll smell like oil from all the people cooking. If you’re getting the salmon, add butter so it won’t stick to the stone. Lastly don’t skip on the dessert, it’s so good after a steak.

Chili was YUCK! The manager needs to review how their chili is made. Of all the places I've been that have chili in Mesa, that was gross! Don't get that side. Also, the top of it was cold by the time I was half way done with my steak.Travis! What happened? He was our server and was attentive at first, then disappeared. We were the last ones there Friday night waiting for someone, ANYONE, to close out. Our server just left! Sad. The ladies working there and one confused guy just stared and walked around after cleaning. We legit got ignored for 25 minutes once we got our bill. Once again, manager may want to review with the team what to do if one of them leaves before closing out a table. ???However, steak and other food ordered besides the chili was good. It was also nice to see the planes come and go at night.

Food was okay, I had the half rack of smoked ribs. Decent portions, and Smokey flavor but a tad on the dry side. Garlic Mashed potatoes were okay and the slaw was fresh and creamy. Family who got the stones received a few short instructions despite it being our first time- our family got cuts in al different types and the favorite was the prime rib. Overall a unique experience but nothing mind blowing.

It was busy on Saturday night, so a bit of a wait but the food was worth it! My hubby LOVES being able to heat up/cook his food as he goes so that every bite is the perfect temperature for him.The fully loaded salad with salmon and balsamic vinaigrette was delicious, and so was the giant brownie with ice cream I got for my free birthday dessert! We only ate a few bites of that and took the rest home. One of our favorite places to eat.
