This little gem is worth the visit for anyone willing to seek out the best food in Scottsdale. As a native of Serbia I can attest to the authenticity and quality of the food to be true of the region. Gulas, Pleljeskavice, and Burek are supreme..the desserts don’t allow me the room for enough compliments. But apart from the epicurean delights which make this place unique is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere that only adds to its charm. Radmila, Jamie, and her family are the best ! Love them. Cafe Balkan is reason enough alone to return to Scottsdale.
Came here with my Eastern-European Mother. She told me the food was just like her grandma used to make, so you can bet that its authentic. I ordered the Village Breakfast and Palačinka w/ apricot and walnuts. Food came out quickly and was well priced for dining in 2024. If you have not tried eastern European food, please give this restaurant a go. Restaurant itself is overall very clean, both aesthetically and hygienically. There is a small market in the corner to buy ingredients and other items, nice selection with great prices. Will be coming back to try other items on the menu.

What a nice dining experience! We wanted to try something different and what we got was beyond our expectations. We had Cevapi (Beef sausage roles in homemade pita bread), Sarma (Meat stuffed cabbage roles), Beans soup (sounds simple, but surprisingly great depth of flavor), and each dish was incredibly flavorful, rich, and filling. We also ordered the Shopska salad (cucumber, tomato, onions, and super fresh feta) which was refreshing and helped to balance the meal! Everything felt like it was homemade and fresh. The desserts are a sweet feast for the eyes and bellies! For living so close and yet having only eaten here once is sad! I'm sure that will change as we hope to become more regulars diners there!What made our experience over the top was the customer service and hospitality we got from the owner and staff! The owner, Radmila (sorry for misspelling) and Trish were very friendly and were happy to talk to us and answer any questions we had about the food. It didn't feel like just a restaurant; it was like getting welcomed in their home! Thank you so much for the sweet treats as well! We can't wait to visit you again!

WONDERFUL experience! We had a truly wonderful meal. The staff was super nice and explained items. The owner came out to see how we liked everything and brought us a soup sample. We had goulash which was great, their delicious salad, bean soup, and the (standout) veal soup. The walnut cake and other deserts were light and delicious. Highly recommended
The owner and front of house (shoutout to Trish, and i’m so sorry if i misspelled your name) were extremely welcoming, kind and attentive. the owner shares her soul and emits love via the art of her food making with such craft and simplicity; you can tell she has the upmost pride from the presentation, taste and general atmosphere. my partner and i asked to speak with her just to share our appreciation for what she has created so authentically and she was enthusiastic and reciprocative in speaking to us and it was an experience i will not easily forget and we plan to go back as often as we can (being that we live around 40 minutes away). Trish helped in suggesting the Balkan Pie Burek (we got the beef; although you should also try the potato AND make sure to try it with the yogurt ~ i don’t even like yogurt and it was more than worth it, adding so much extra depth of flavor). she also suggested peach desserts and we were not disappointed, even purchasing more of them on the way out ~ i really appreciated her presence in our dining experience from start to finish and i cannot wait to see them both again! ?✨✨ p.s. i wish i had better pictures as i normally am attentive to that sort of thing when i truly enjoy something so implicitly but i was so engulfed by the people, surroundings and food so this is all i have for this time around.
Spectacular original home-cooked food, atmosphere and loving personnel. We will come again. The only bummer is that we didn’t know about this place in the last two years. We got some free samples of burek and their self made yoghurt alongside our order. They do catering as well, which will be one of our go-to choices in the future.
