SALTY! My kids were not impressed by the quality. Thank God the source was small because it was all SALT, both for the oxtail and jerk chicken. Not one to pull orhers down, but this was really disaapointing especially when I found out other people have given feedback about the salt. Kindly fix this!

They were at the farmers market and I asked the man what I should get. He made me plate. I've never had Jamaican food to compare, but I am certain this place easily ranks up there.The Jerk chicken was moist, spicy, and absolutely amazing. The plantains were slightly sweet with savory undertones. The greens were on point. The black beans rice, something I've had many times, was among the best I've had.

Before anyone even reads my entire experience, it needs to be known I watched someone working back in the kitchen while holding a diapered baby on their arm. That's the first red flag and should be the ONLY reason not to go here unless they want to see what it's like to have E Coli ...but there's more.We walked in to a tiny room full of waiting people and were greeted by a small child that asked if we were picking up an order, we said we wanted to place an order to go and she disappeared in to the kitchen and yelled "there's people up front".....and nobody ever came back, more and more people showed up over the next 15 minutes, one woman that came in after us let us know she cancelled her LAST order because she waited an hour to pick it up, and waited another 30 minutes after she showed up to pick it up.The 2 other people there before us weren still waiting on their orders that were supposedly going to be ready 45 minutes beforehand, and when we left they still had no service or food.Then of course while looking through the opening in the swinging doors, back in the kitchen area to see if I can even see an adult somewhere, I see the person carrying a baby around the kitchen on their arm, diaper resting on their arm without gloves, toys on the floor. As soon as I saw that we left, there's no food worth risking illness, and definitely no food worth being ignored over.

Great food. Has a spicy feel that is not overpowering, just right. Vegetarian options, very friendly service. Would recommend and would definitely go again. I got the large portion and got 3 meals out of it. My wife got the small and two meals out of it. There's outside seating in the complex and a couple inside tables. we took carry out. try it.
Y’all! When i say this is the BEST jamaican food i’ve had in arizona omg . They beat ocho rios and ms Martha’s and any other spot in the valley . Sweet people and great service with the mf food to match! love it here!!! Oh and the guava lemonade?! Babyyyyyy , just go and enjoy a plate you will not be disappointed ❤️

This is my first time having food from this restaurant and it did not disappoint! So many delicious vegan options and everything is seasoned so well and PACKED with flavor. Also, their sea moss drink is so yummy. The restaurant itself has a very cozy, relaxing atmosphere. You can tell that the food is made fresh and with a lot of care. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you Desert Island!

I was pleasantly surprised with this literal "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant. This is a true mom & pop establishment. Service was great and the food was absolutely delicious. I think I ate every rice grain. I will definitely revisit this location.Vegetarian options: Had the veggie plate and it was so flavorful. Super delicious ?
