I'll start by saying... I've never actually been inside. I've tried on 3 separate occasions to come here and I have even checked their own website. It's either been closed or there's been a private event not listed on the site. The straw that broke my back on this was tonight. I checked their website and no closures were listed, we arrived at 8 pm and there was a sign out front that a private event was being held until 845. We walked around and got a drink somewhere else just to pass time.We came back at 845 when this event was supposed to be over.... and the staff said it's been extended for another hour because they started late. All we got was a sorry and we can put you on the wait list if you want to wait around. If you are hosting an event, at least put the effort to show it on your website. ... and if you have a sign, honor it... don't waste other peoples time.Maybe someday I'll write a new review when I can actually visit, but for the time being I'd say go somewhere else so your precious time isn't wasted. Don't make plans to visit that'll just be met with lackluster service and disappointment.

The bartender Conor was phenomenal! He just continually kept making my friend and I the best drinks I have ever had. Her and her fiancé go there often and she said she is never disappointed. They made me the best espresso martini literally EVER. I ended up having 2. The other drinks were beyond superb, but they were to unique to compare to anything else… I’ll definitely be back.

I've wanted to visit for a long time and finally was able to. Very enjoyable space, excellent drinks, and wonderful staff. Definitely would be a good date place.

Not sure what happened, but this place has gone completely down the drain. My friend and I came in on a Friday night a little before closing and they told us that they would be closing soon but they're doing last call, so my friend and I ordered drinks. 10 minutes went by nothing 20 minutes went by nothing. Meanwhile the waitress was giving everybody else around us a second or third round of drinks. Sure they may have ordered them before us, but we didn't even get any drinks at all. A group of 4 come in way after us and ordered way after us and they also received their drinks. We confronted the staff and instead of being apologetic, they basically just blew us off. I don't know if it had to do with the fact that my friend and I are woman of color or what but there's no reason for us to be ignored and for our drink orders to be dismissed. I highly recommend not going to this place because the service and the people that work here are terrible. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU EXPECT GOOD SERVICE. You will be ignored and dismissed. Extremely unprofessional and disrespectful staff.

First time visiting this little gem inside the stir coffee shop on high street. You do need the secret passcode (from their IG or solve their riddle they give you) to enter as it's a very tiny intimate vibe with only a few seats and half bar inside. Very flapper like energy with a great ambiance. Our server was wearing an awesome great gatsby like flapper dress. Be prepared to hang out and enjoy the scenery as they put a lot of love into their amazing cocktails. We waited about 20 minutes for our cocktail but it's a whole creation. They have a telephone booth which is the secret door to get in. I can't remember what I ordered but it was a special October cocktail that came in a smoky box. It was so beautiful almost too cool to drink. Can't wait to return! 5 s!!

Such a fun spot with cool 20's vibes. Cocktails for every preference. A fun night out, but make reservations because it's small. They could do better about answering the phone since they don't take online bookings.

Place is cute. The cocktails were delicious. Strangely, the host poured the unfinished water from the previous guest's glasses into the carafe that was on the table when we took their seats as they left. She then seemed surprised when I asked for a new carafe of fresh water.

the ambiance and drinks were great. i recently visited on tuesday jan 16 with a few of my friends. we got there about 20 min before closing so we each just got one drink. my boyfriend ordered a jack and coke ($11), i ordered a tequila and pineapple ($11), and our buddy ordered a cocktail named city lights ($17) so our total came out to $43.98 tax included. our waitress visited our table once and we didn't see her again for a while so my bf went to the bar to order our drinks since we knew it was closing soon. since our waitress didn't do anything for us i gave her a $1.02 tip so it would be 45 even. this morning i check my credit card statement to see that $55 was charged. Our waitress or whomever, gave themselves an extra tip on my check!!!! how disrespectful and illegal?????? cute speakeasy but make sure you write your numbers close together on checks so weird, rude waitresses don't give themselves an extra tip they don't deserve!!

The bartenders were super cool and made great conversations with my husband and I. We were on our first date night without kids in a long time and even tho we just stopped in for one drink to check it out we will deffinatly be back. Really cool place !

Gin and Reel is my favorite speakeasy and a fun place to take friends and family. I love a good cocktail, and they really know how to make them. My husband took me here as a surprise for my birthday and made me find the password and everything. Highly suggest!

So cute! Tucked away in the back, the service was attentive but laid back, the drink selection is large and you can very well get lost in all the options! The food- very much simple finger foods, nothing to write home about but good for something to snack on while drinking!

Love this spot. It definitely has that true speakeasy vibe and some of the best cocktails I've tried. Most recently, I enjoyed one with a tasty, tongue-tingling rim made from a rare flower that the bartender told me was difficult to procure. The complexity of the cocktail, the backstory from the bartender, and the fact that it was unquestionably delicious have made it one I still plan to visit again for. Note to first-timers: it is dark and the A/C is efficient. Bring sleeves!

Tucked away in the High Street shopping district in North Phoenix, lies a quaint ode to the bygone era of Old Hollywood - Gin & Reel. A venture into this speakeasy is like stepping onto the sets of a classic noir film, with the charm of vintage cinema resonating in every nook. The clandestine entrance behind a cleverly disguised phone booth at The Stir Coffee Bar adds a dash of mystery that's enticing, the password gleaned from their social media channels being the key to a time-traveling experience. Once inside, the well-designed space exudes an aura of retro elegance that captures the allure of old Hollywood impeccably. The dim lighting, vintage decor, and classic covers of modern songs serenading the room weave a nostalgic narrative that's both comforting and intriguing. Our anticipation was tickled by the array of beverages on the menu. Though the variety was satisfactory, a few more concoctions would have painted a fuller picture of the mixologist's virtuosity. The starlets of our evening were the Seen 'Em All and the Dream of You. The former, a robust dialogue between gin, brandy, bitters, and a strawberry Strega rinse, was a captivating performance. The latter, a melodious blend of Tito's vodka, yuzu liquor, Strega, limoncello, and lavender water, was a refreshing sip of dreamy notes that danced gracefully on the palate. Both cocktails were strong contenders in our quest for a nostalgic sip, potent yet not overpowering, embodying a sophistication that was enjoyable. However, the narrative did hit a slight pause with the slower service. Though understandable in a speakeasy setting aiming to keep the ambiance relaxed and intimate, a tad more alacrity would have kept the storyline moving at a riveting pace. Gin & Reel is a charming nook where the classic allure of Hollywood finds a cozy home. While the experience was delightful, it didn't beckon a detour from my usual trails. Yet, if found in the vicinity, the allure of another cinematic evening at Gin & Reel is a tempting prospect. In essence, Gin & Reel plays a sweet ode to the golden days of Hollywood, with a sprinkle of modern mixology that's worth a reel if you find yourself on High Street. It's a quaint stop in a bustling city where the past mingles with the present over a well-crafted cocktail, albeit at a leisurely pace.
