However, our experience left much to be desired.Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of the evening. Despite being told of a 20 minute wait, we found ourselves waiting for an exorbitant amount of time before being seated. The wait seemed interminable, and our hunger only intensified as we watched others being served around us.Once seated, we eagerly perused the menu, hoping that the delay would be forgiven by the promise of a satisfying meal. However, what arrived at our table was far from impressive. The portions were indeed large, but this seemed to be the restaurant's only redeeming quality. The food itself lacked the finesse and flavor we had anticipated. In concept and on paper, the dishes read as a fusion of many things tropical. What arrived was a case study of “missing-the-mark.”To make matters worse, the service was disjointed and inattentive. Our server seemed overwhelmed and struggled to keep up with the demands of the busy dining room.In conclusion, while Hula’s may have the potential to offer a satisfying dining experience, our visit fell far short of expectations. The long wait times, oversized portions, and lackluster food left us feeling disappointed and unlikely to return ever again.

Stopped up here to have an old fashioned and just hang out for a minute! Or bartender was wonderful she was on top of it and she made a damn good old-fashioned taller lady red hair very nice. Just because of her we will end up going back!

We are locals, so brought some friends here for lunch. The Tiki room is by far the best option as to where to eat inside. The patio is large and roomy for good weather dining. The food and service were good, nothing overwhelming, but good.

We loved mostly everything. I can vouch for the mai tai, ribs, shitake mushrooms, the ribeye, and the pan fried hapu (the one thing I will note here that I didn’t love was that I was not informed that it was breaded - I assumed pan fried would be treated different than the “encrusted” prepared options but it was breaded with rice flour). Our server, Ronnie, was lovely. Overall, we were all happy with our choice to dine here!

It was my first time here and the service was great and had a cool vibe to the place. My wife and I had the ceviche and we both are use to more of a juicy wet type dish, but theirs was dry and a bit to salty. The chunks of fish were pretty big also. Normally we’re use to smaller chunks. I thought it was still good but not something I was use to. The jerk chicken dish was yummy. The flavor might have been a bit to saucy intense but it was still good. I would to go back again to try some of the other dishes.

Hula's Modern Tiki - High StreetNot the first time at Hula's, went to the original location many times in Central Phoenix during work lunch, always busy and mostly had their burgers which are very good.Crispy Coconut Shrimp Rolls with Pineapple Horseradish dipping sauce lived up to its description, light crispy skin roll to dip into a wonderful sauce. Highly recommend this appetizer or a light meal in itself. Crispy Fish Balls white fish in panko and togarashi encrusted, served with an island romoulade to dip which is also a nice appetizer. Traditional Hawaiian Kalbi Ribs soy marinated short ribs with macaroni salad and rice, how basic and delicious just like I remember from the old beach food trucks on Sandy Beach excellent flavor and tender beef with a scoop of rice and my favorite macaroni salad. Winner traditional dish. Get it!Shrimp Tacos came with 2 tacos on corn tortilla and a mound of rice covered with black beans. Have to say it initially looked sparse, but the tacos are very filling and tasty.Lemongrass encrusted fish in a lime ginger cream sauce with rice and slaw. The crust is very dominate so much that it takes away from the Lemongrass fish, very different but not swing it is a negative, just different. Service was excellent, our waitress was on top of everything, one thing that stood out was when we asked for left over containers, she brought three and all were labeled with the current date which we generally do at home. Nice touch!Overall, nice restaurant centered inside around a huge bar with lots of outside seating. Solid food, good service and nice restaurant. Some good food here, enjoy! Shaka
