Recently a buddy & I ate @ Mrs. Whites, and was impressed. The soul food was beyond evaluation - as I purchased food to go. For soul food - Mrs. Whites is the best in Arizona!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe in Phoenix, Arizona, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the moist and flavorful chicken. Each bite was tender and cooked to perfection, leaving me craving for more. The potato salad and mac and cheese were equally impressive. The potato salad was well-seasoned, with just the right balance of flavors. The mac and cheese had a delightful richness and a great depth of flavor that was truly satisfying. One dish that stood out was the cabbage. It had a slight sweetness to it, which complemented the other flavors on the plate perfectly. The cabbage was cooked to perfection, with a wonderful texture that added a lovely element to the meal.To top it all off, I indulged in the best Louisiana crunch cake. The combination of the crunchy texture and the rich, decadent flavors made it the perfect ending to a fantastic meal.Overall, my experience at Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe was nothing short of excellent. The chicken, potato salad, mac and cheese, cabbage, and Louisiana crunch cake all exceeded my expectations. If you find yourself in Phoenix, Arizona, I highly recommend visiting this establishment for a truly delicious and satisfying dining experience.

Almost everything we tried was right on the real point! The oxtails were amazingly tender and flavorful and not fatty! The pork chops were thin but juicy and fried to perfection. Smothered was good too. The greens had a great flavor and the fried chicken was also very good. The rice and gravy and the red beans fell below expectations but an overall great Southern food experience. Make sure you get a glass of red Kool-Aid and any dessert you try will be the best you ever had! Especially the chocolate cake !

Really tasty food! Service is great now too! The only thing is the portion size doesn’t match the price. It’s $25 a plate, and I was still hungry after. If you don’t eat much though, you can overlook that because it was delicious!

A VERY LONG STANDING ESTABLISHMENT, I BELIEVE IT WAS A HOUSE THAT WAS CONVERTED INTO A RESTAURANT. THE SELECTIONS ARE HUGE AND DELICIOUS, THEIR CLAIM TO FAME IS " SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN"

I ordered catfish with greens and macaroni and cheese. The greens were legit and the macaroni and cheese was good too! The catfish came out piping hot so that was nice (taste good too). I also ordered some peach cobbler which did not disappoint. I was hoping to try the red velvet but they didn't have any. I'm glad I finally made it here because I've been wanting to try this place for a minute now. The only negative thing I have to say is that they seriously need to upgrade their upholstery.

The price for the meal is outrageous. $23 for a small smothered pork chop and 2, 1/2 - 2/3 cup size sides. I eat out 75% of my meals. The price should be $14-$16 only because it’s an iconic Phoenix restaurant. Or keep it $23 but double the amount of everything. I had to eat another lunch 3 hours later. I’ve been coming to Mrs Whites since 1991. My last visit was in Oct of 2023 and the prices were $18 ish for the same meal. Food taste was great as usual (pc and cabbage and green beans and potatoes). Service was also great but it was only 1/4 filled at noon. Please don’t go out of business because of over pricing. Perhaps keep reading these reviews.

Good food with a home style that makes you feel right at home. If you’re from the south and missing that southern bell flavor. This is your spot! “FOOD SO GOOD MAKE YOU WANNA SLAP YA MOMMA!!!”

THE BEST SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN AND SMOTHERED PORK CHOPS IN AZ!!! I've been going to Mrs White's since I was twelve years old and now at 28 anytime I go I feel like im going to my auntie's house for dinner. Real deal southern comfort hospitality, no frills bs or gimmicks. Everything off the menu is delicious and you are guaranteed to nap after a plate. In addition to fresh food, they offer amazing deserts and real deal Kool aid and iced tea. If you dont know, this is the original fried chicken spot that then birthed the famous Lo-Lo's chicken & waffles, as a separate fried chicken established ran by other members in the family. If you are lucky to get a table when its not busy, order everything they have and you will not be disappointed!
