Convenient place in downtown. Unique taco options that were good, but expected. The elote was a good appetizer. Margaritas were nothing to write home about.

Came in because of a gift card on a busy Friday night. We sat at the bar instead of waiting 45 minutes for a table. The bartender was attentive and helpful. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. The burritos and tacos were good but a little bland.

Loved the location, and there are plenty of parking options nearby. So recommend reservations and sitting outside. The short rib tacos were the best. The guacamole had pomegranate seeds, which was not my favorite, but the rest of the guacamole was great and made table side.Definitely worth checking out.

My family and I recently visited here for an afternoon meal. We came during happy hour which we were excited about! Our server was nice and very fast. We got water and chips and salsa almost immediately which was great! The salsa itself on the other hand - mediocre. In my personal opinion it had very little flavor and was nothing to get hyped about. If you like salsa with little flavor and zero heat, this may be for you. I wish there were additional options on salsa with better flavor. Our drinks were delicious. My entire family got happy hour margaritas and I got two jalapeño margaritas which were refreshing and tasty! We got several appetizers and shared between the three of us. Plates were well prepared and the food was fine, again, nothing to jump and clap about. Overall it was decent, nothing I would go out of my way for, and nothing I would crave regularly.

So disappointed by my recent meal here. In the past we’ve loved this place and the table side guacamole. I was there with four women on a Sunday night for a reservation. We were seated in a section that was empty with no server and we were not given water for over 30 minutes! We watched many parties get seated and served before we could even get our orders taken. They told us they were out of chips and would take 20 minutes while we watched every other table get chips. We were eventually assigned nice server who advocated for the house to comp our bill. It took 70 minutes to get apps and food and I will never go back.

Overall this place is horrible and if you’re in Scottsdale I’d skip this place. Everything from the food to the drinks are really mid. Not worth 40 per person.

The Death drink is hot as heck. I pride myself on handling spice and this was awful lol. But the free mug is super cute!

So first, I should state that I’m comparing the Scottsdale location of Barrio Queen against my first experience with Barrio Queen at the Gilbert location. My experience in Gilbert was simply at a different, more elevated level, when compared to Scottsdale. The food in Gilbert was delicious and carefully prepared. The food in Scottsdale was ordinary and really sub-par for a number of reasons. The fajita meat was overcooked, the chips were like thick, overcooked pita chips, which was odd and my wife said that her food wasn’t memorable, unlike the Gilbert experience. I had selected this restaurant for a casual business lunch, having remembered my favorable experience with the service, atmosphere and food in Gilbert. Unfortunately, all three were lacking in the Scottsdale restaurant. I’m sure I will go back to the Gilbert restaurant, but I don’t see myself going back to the Scottsdale restaurant.
