Barrel Buddies

Our wine club, Barrel Buddies, had a few wine pairing dinners at Anacapa. The food and service was always excellent. I understand that Anacapa is still closed for renovations. When do you expect to open and will we be able to have private events there again? We are particularly interested in a December holiday party for as many people as you can handle. Thanks!

We truly enjoy eating at Anacapa. The menu items are tasty and the staff are welcoming and accommodating. We particularly enjoy a pre-dinner drink on the patio with our reserved table waiting for us when finished. With company arriving later this month. When is Anacapa planning to reopen? We would like to treat our visitors to your hospitality.

Just in case you are planning on eating here, Anacapa just closed (July 16th) for several months for a refurbishment.

This was the most disappointing restaurant!food was salty, calamari tasteless. Read reviews so I wasn't expecting what was served. Horrible!!!

Went with the family. Everyone enjoyed their choice, From appetizers to an entree. We live in Corte Bella and want to support our restaurant! Some of the specials offered are TO expensive, order what you feel is right. Fish fry and other choices are right price! Always enjoyed pasta night, but not available - Used to have pizza appetizer, miss that on the menu. New chef, again, hope this one works! Good Luck

Very comfortable seating with large tables. Beautiful golf course view. The menu is small but the food is great and you can actually converse with your friends as the acoustics are perfect.

Management was very unprofessional. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly host who asked about my day and made me feel very welcomed. So far so good. As I was waiting on my meal I witnessed a manager yelling at the host over dress code in front of the whole restaurant, resulting in the hostess crying. This was very innapropriate and unprofessional. Hostess was wearing very suitable and modest clothing for her position. I was sure to talk to this host on my way out where I then found out she was unaware of any specific dress code as a new employee. Either way, DO NOT yell at your employees under ANY circumstances especially in front of guests. This manager needs to be taken back to basic training if she wishes to continue her position in management. Unbelievable.

First time at this restaurant & we definitely will be back. Wonderful dinner with wonderful friends! Our server was Tom whom we loved! He had the perfect personality for this job! Drinks & food were brought out in a timely matter. Thank you Tom! The food was delicious! 3 had liver & onions & all said best they have ever eaten. One had the shrimp risotto that was superb. Very nice room with a lovely view outside. Very enjoyable evening!

A very lovely setting, great staff. I ordered fish and chips, my go to at a new place I'm not familiar with. Fish was good, but tiny portions. I ordered onion rings instead of fries, and they were the best onion rings I've ever had!

My parents had been going for years and bringing the family too join, but lately it is no longer worth it. They always say they are booked with half the resteraunt empty, the food is 50/50, and for the inflated price it is no longer worth the risk. The fresh bread has to be asked for it is never just brought out anymore, The menu is never changed and the rudeness is more prevalent, chefs are not sticking around to make the changes needed, so now we go everywhere but Anacapa. The last straw was the 50.00 Easter meal, flavorless thin ham, cold potatoes, or lamb smothered in a brown gravy, more like a pot roast than a lamb. And the deserts were samples.from somewhere. They laugh and say it looked.like.amazon.

Where do I begin? Our party booked a table tonight (April 21st 2022) to have a final meal in the Anacapa, in memory of my recently passed parents, to recall and reflect on some splendid evenings there in the past. Sadly, the experience from start to end was a complete disaster, beyond ironic comedy and, in fact, a disgraceful insult to any paying customer who enters the establishment!I’ll talk you through the evening. We arrived to be met by a diffident young lady, who guided us to a table and then promptly left. We sat at our table and was greeted by Drew, our server, who took our orders for water and then drinks, but seemed confused over a request for a specific volume of wine, for reasons that were clearly explained, which did not arrive as requested. A mere trifle when compared with what was to follow! We then ordered our starters, which duly arrived and were actually quite ok. However, while we had butter at our table, we didn’t have any bread and had to ask for some. We then noticed that every table in the place had butter, but no bread, and it was only us requesting ours that seemed to bring that fact to the staff's attention. We then ordered our main courses and, again, Drew seemed confused somewhat. The apparent 'confusion' manifested itself when the mains arrived. My Salmon arrived with steamed (raw) vegetables, rather than the grilled vegetables requested. A lasagne was brought instead of an ordered linguine (meaning one of us sat with nothing while the others started eating to avoid their food going cold). The missing meal finally arrived and, to be fair, on the whole the meals were not that bad - the salmon was quite nice, but the linguine sauce was somewhat powdery. While contemplating dessert, Drew brings us the check (which was not requested) and does not offer menus or enquire whether we wish to order coffee or dessert! At this point, we thought we'd cut our losses and leave.Does all of this warrant such a negative review? Well, let me continue! While sitting through this Dantean experience, we had occasion to look at what was happening around us across the restaurant at large. It was then that the bigger picture of general ineptitude and fundamental lack of basic staff training or management unfolded before our eyes!Specifically (not an exhaustive list!):1. long-haired male staff members serving with hair not tied back and being constantly pulled from their faces.2. one member of staff, needing to sneeze, pulling up his shirt over his mouth and nose to do so, then squeezing the shirt to ensure the ejected nasal contents were well absorbed.3. the same individual then taking cruet sets to tables with his hands over the top of the salt and pepper shakers.4. waiters leaning over customers to serve and retrieve plates.5. staff congregating and audibly talking about customers in a disparaging way.6. over familiarity between staff and customers. In conclusion; it was abundantly clear to us that the fundamental underlying cause of this fiasco was the apparent lack of appropriate training and almost total absence of experienced floor management. I did notice two older more experienced members of staff, who seemed utterly exasperated on what was going on around them and they actually stood out and shone as beacons of efficiency in a morass of confusion. A manager (Jill) did eventually appear to circulate and, in what can only be described as schmoozing with some clearly regular and favourite customers, ignored the farce that was unfolding in 'her' restaurant. Before you ask - why didn't we complain? Well, we did seek the name of the owners from the ‘greeter’, only to be told that she had no idea! Finally - my wife and I got married 2 days ago and we had originally booked our celebratory meal with guests at the Anacapa (based on our previous happy experiences), but a friend recommended somewhere else and so we changed the venue. Based on tonight’s experience, we owe that friend an almost immeasurable debt of gratitude!

We have eaten at Anacapa many times over the last few years and it has always been one of our favorites because of the views from the outside patio. We went there last night to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we were very disappointed. The food was OK but the service was terrible. We ordered extra wine that never came, we didn’t receive any bread at our table, the server never checked back to see if we needed more water, etc. and we had to take our bill into the bar to pay because the server never returned to get our credit card. It has always been one of our go to places to take guests, not so much any more.

Want to update my review on Anacapa Restaurant. We did receive a call from Jill, the Dining Room Manager, explaining that she was out of town on a family situation and that is why there was a delay in responding to our bad dining situation. She explained the circumstances that caused the problems and offered to have us come back to have dinner gratis. My faith in Anacapa has been restored. Thank you.

This experience today with seven of my friends was unforgivable. The slowest service imaginable, no bread, salads with a tablespoon of chicken, an apple and beet salad with no apples in the salad, 40 minutes wait for dessert and I could go on. No bus boys AND from now on, no separate checks. You have to be going out of business as this treatment was unthinkable.
