Great mix of flavors and in healthy servings! Definitely worth every cent! Big fan of the macaroni salad

Horrible portion size. I ordered the bone rib steak and they usually give two or 3 per meal order at most Hawaiian imitation restaurants in mainland U.S.A. but these guys only put one measly piece in the container so after I checked my food before paying I just bounced. The food came out to like $16 ???????

If you're looking for Hawaiian plate lunch style food near ASU, this is the place to go. I went with a friend and got the chicken katsu plate and she got the kalua pig plate and both were so bomb. They also get spam musubi and other plates like kalbi, so gotta go back to try that. Overall kinda expensive, but when I miss home I think it's worth it.

Great tasting food and super polite staff! Unfortunately this location has been closed for about a week now, hope you are able to open again soon!

This restaurant acts as a good change of tastes, comparable to Panda Express. The flavors are all basically different, but the plate compositions are the same. I was on the fence, teetering between 3 and 4 stars, trying to decide what rating to give, before settling at 4 stars. There were a lot of good things about Char'd, and only a couple gripes. To start, the meats were tasty. The beef, short ribs, and kalua pork were all delicious in their own right. In the other container, the Chicken Katsu tasted great; however the shrimp and the orange chicken need improvement. They only gave me 3 shrimp for the "entree" which seems odd, because if you ordered all three entrees as the shrimp, you would only get 9 pieces. For the orange chicken, it was made with dark meat, which makes the pieces chewier. I'm not a fan of the shrimp because of the portion size, and not a fan of the orange chicken because of the consistency. As for the sides, you can't go wrong with steamed cabbage and broccoli; however, both the rice and macaroni salad tasted pretty bad. The macaroni salad was basically just macaroni pasta soaked in mayonnaise, with no flavor. And the rice tasted like straight up Minute Rice. The chicken dumplings and the Manapua were both good, nothing really special though. If you've been looking for a different restaurant for a while, and you're tired of burgers and Panda Express, try out Char'd Asian Grill.

Spam musubi is absolutely the worst... Too much rice and too little sauce. Half of the time I am eating just plain rice. Rice is also too dry. Can't really taste any flavor. A big disappointment. And... you will get confused by the picture in their menu which had 3 pieces of spam musubi but actually you are only getting 2.

We go A LOT!! The food is fun and delicious and really reasonably priced too - Best Deal in Tempe!!!!

They have the proper "wok hay" for the food they make. Quickly became one of my favorite takeout places in Tempe.

Speaking the Truth

Tasty, no frills and filling for what you pay for. Feels Hawaiian and the food is pretty good and in good portions. I am giving 5 stars because this is a good deal and taste for the price. But if it was two dollars more I would have given 4.5 instead

Staff at register wonderful, the food was not. Korean BBQ ribs were so tough they were inedible. The veggies had no taste to them . The hit on the plate was the macaroni salad.

I have lived a couple hundred feet from this place since it opened. And just now tried it. Man... I been sleeping on this place and now I'm upset for not having tried it sooner. I smell this place from my apartment and couldn't take it anymore. I went in and ordered the Chicken Katsu and Korean Beef choose two entree plate. Sorry I did not take the picture before I started chowing down. The chicken with sauce was crispy on the outside and tender inside. And the Korean Beef smelled insanely spicy. When I bet into it, it was just that. Then, it quickly disappeared. Very flavorful spice! The best kind. Spicy at first , and doesn't burn your tongue. Very good! Comes with Macaroni salad and veggies and is served over a bed of rice. So much food also, for like $10. So leave a tip! I will be back very soon!

I never realized that this place actually makes Hawaiian BBQ. So I tried the BBQ Beef...it's actually pretty good! Very impressive on how they flavor it...it's not authentic Hawaiian but they put their own spin into their menu which is really impressive. It's a place I would recommend for someone who wants to get quick Hawaiian bbq if they don't want to drive far for a great Hawaiian place. I didn't try their SPAM Musubi because I'm super critical of SPAM Musubi...I like their fast & friendly service!

I was pleasantly surprised. I would come back and recommend to others. I ordered the 2 entree plate with crispy shrimp and bbq chicken as well as musabi. Everything was delicious. Mind you, I was late picking up my order, which is never a good thing with fried food takeout and my takeout bag also flipped upside down onto my passenger floor on my way back to the office. Still, it all managed to satisfy me. The shrimp had good flavor and wasn't overcooked. The tarter sauce that came with it was unexpected and pleasant. The bbq chicken was plenty (2 large pieces) and was flavorful and tender. The macaroni salad was satisfactory-wouldn't complain. Not the best, but hit the spot. Veggies were fresh and steamed to perfection. Musabi was all I expected it to be. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Only good thing was the spam musabi. everything else was rubbery, and tasted like it was frozen prior to being prepared. Pretty disappointed.
