I've ordered a few times on doordash but they seemed to get my order wrong so I stopped. Went in and the lady there was so pushy! I told her I wanted chicken tacos and she pushed me to get the birira or something. Like rang it up amd said she'd give me a sample amd if I didn't line it, the cooks could change it. And I wanted the street tacos but she rang me up for the two cause they were slightly bigger. At that point I just let her do whatever. I felt so uncomfortable with how pushy she was. You'd have thought she was a car salesman or something with how pushy she was! I couldn't say no, this is what I want without her pushing in about her favorite type of meat! I just wanted chicken tacos......

Wow! So glad I decided to come here for lunch! They were so friendly and quick. And the food was amazing--we got the Sun Devil roll and El Jefe roll, and the four chicken street tacos. They were soo delicious. The food was simple and unique (only a few ingredients), but still tasted so good (I could have eaten just the chicken by itself from the tacos). Plus, all the staff members (the boss, or el jefe, included) approached us and asked how we were doing. Definitely coming here again soon!

The owner of El Jefe is on top of his game! I have been to several of their locations and on this night came to Tempe. What a cute location with colorful inside seating and plentiful outdoor seating. Food is always authentic, fresh and delicious. I needed to get a shirt for a relative and the owner personally assisted me and was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond with helping me to find what I needed. I can't wait to try their NEW location soon to open in MESA! Support this locally-owned business that knows how do do food and fun the right way :)

Thank you! Been here a few times before and really enjoy the food, it's great!! But they went above and beyond last weekend! I ordered a DoorDash order for the first time ever and the first driver stoled my food! Then the second driver called and told me about it and I had to cancel the order. After my disappointment I called El Jefe again and reordered my food and my husband (who is my original door dasher for us, lol) went and picked up my food. The girl Lynn, remembered my order and made sure my order was perfect and gave us our order!!

BEWARE ** f I could give no stars, I would. The second we got our sushi, the stench of rotten fish was overwhelming. Nevermind that you could tell the fish was rotten just by the look of it and ALL of the rolls were hot-I’ve never experienced anything like last before and we are frequent sushi eaters. We threw all of it away immediately and will never be back! ?

The food used to be amazing but within the last few months I've noticed a menu change that came along with mediocre food. It used to be the best Mexican restaurant that I'd recommend and rave about to others but I can no longer vouch for the food anymore as it seems like the flavor has gone down with the quality of the food, not sure if it's the cooks but would definitely like the quality over quantity prioritized. Also bring back the old menu, it just looks like they changed the menu to maximize the price which would be worth it if the food matched up.

Jefes food is not only very good, they make it convenient ordering online and food is always hot and ready upon arrival to pick up. The employees always greet you with a kind welcome ( Beinvenidos ) and make sure that your order is complete and correct.
Everything we had was amazing! Everyone was friendly and helped explain the specials and the menu items, as it was our first time there. We will definitely be back! And Taco Tuesday has buy one get one free! Highly recommend!!!

This is the least important part of the review because the service is the real star but the food was amazing and pretty reasonably priced, I got the birria ramen which is a big portion of ramen AND a birria taco for $15 and my fiancé got a massive burrito for $13 and then we got horchata. All 10/10. But the service was soooooo fast and Chris who took our order was an angel. He had really helpful recommendations, was very patient with our indecisiveness, and was just overall super friendly and sweet. Give this man a raise. We will definitely come back and try out the rest of the menu!!

Food is always good customer service needs help though. I go in and get ready to order. The female counter didn't acknowledge or even ask if we were ready to order, we sat there for literally almost 3minutes just waiting for her to speak up. I had to be the one to ask if we order here. That is not good service, if you want tips the bare minimum is that you acknowledge the customer you don't have to have a full blown fancy conversation with them but at least be good at being attentive. I get people can have there off days but just not a good experience at all. I just rather take my order to go at that point. Do better please.

Ate here and it was probably the worst place ever. It's very over priced for what u get and I get if maybe the food was actually good then it'll be worth being overpriced but it wasn't. Tacos, burritos and even the salsa lacked so much flavor. We also got a sushi roll that $15 that was literally only like 4 pieces.
