I've been looking for what I would call real barbecue in Tucson for over twenty years now. There are some passibly ok places around. But frankly nothing I would recommend, with the exception of the guy that sells it out of his red food truck (trailer).The new Bashful Bandit Barbecue joint* on Speedway get's an enthusiastic recommendation from me. If you want a real barbecue joint experience with actual real and REALLY good smoked meats in Tucson, this is your place.*The Bashful Bandit has been around for a very long time. But it had always been just a dive bar kinda place.

Come for the BBQ. Stay for the great relaxed friendly vibe.Bit of a line when we arrived, but it was cool to see the big outdoor meat smoking operation, and to see what everyone on the patio was already eating. Someone came and greeted the people in line, and even sold us a couple beers before we got to the counter to place the rest of our order.Really great Texas style brisket. I don't know anywhere else in Tucson where you can get that. As good as any I had even when I lived in Texas. My friend got pulled pork - also great. We also had dill potato salad and “drunken beans.” I had never heard of drunken beans before, but I will probably get them every time I come back.There used to be a biker bar with the same name in this location. And there was a group of bikers when we were there, but seems like that might have been a coincidence. There is a cool looking bar inside, but no one was even sitting at it. Most people, including the bikers, were out on the great shaded patio on the nice spring day when we were there. This is definitely a clean modern restaurant, not a dirty old bar. Great food. Super relaxed and friendly place!Parking: Ample parking behind building.

This place was very nice and was blown away by the brisket the sausage and ribs fall apart sooooo tender but the Mac and cheese was pretty dry. good taste but dry.this place has allot of history with me and my family as we grew up with the original bar but overall good meat gotta work on your

We were excited to check out the new Bashful Bandit BBQ restaurant since we like BBQ, the place is within walking distance of our house, and has a full bar.When we finally went, we were not disappointed. The food was tasty, the service was very friendly, the drinks were good and reasonably priced, the place was not too crowded, and we really enjoyed our dinner. There were several different styles of BBQ sauces to try. There were many gluten-free options for me.They have a really nice patio outside for when the weather is nice; there is even a Tornado foosball table if you're into that sort of thing.We recommend the place and will definitely go again.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten-free options.

I got the chopped brisket and the mac n cheese. The brisket was nice and tender will definitely be coming back for that! The mac n cheese was ok ,didn't stand out in any way. I also tasted the dill potato salad I enjoyed the dil taste my son-in-law did not( he is from Wisconsin).I loved the chill relleno sassge.The service was fast and friendly. What a great experience. The owner met me at the back door since I had parked on the wrong side of the building. He was very engaging and took me inside to show me the restaurant. They did a great job preserving some of the original atmosphere of the bashful bandit. The staff was friendly and helpful. On top of that, the food was awesome! I had a two meat plate with ribs and brisket. Both were perfectly flavored and cooked to perfection. My sides were mac & cheese and potato salad. Both were outstanding! This is definitely my new favorite BBQ place in Tucson. I'll be back....often
