Updated ReviewWhat happened to Luke's????New owner and the food went downhill so fast. The food quality is so sad. The poor ingredients and less food.Luke's was at one point the best sandwich stop in the area.

Went down hill since it got sold, the food is trash and the owner touches cash wish gloves then makes the food. The older woman was not happy when I called him out on it! Will not go back, I'm sad the owner sold it to people who don't give a damn about the business! Stay away... "the menu is the same, but better".... That's what they told me. They know nothing about the food industry!

This used to be a great place, new owners took over about a month ago and the overall quality has gone downhill very fast.

I wish I read the reviews before stopping at Lucky's. I ate here when it was Lukes a few months ago and I had a pastrami sandwich and it was good. I came back, but then I realized the name had changed and decided to give it a try under the new ownership. I ordered a pastrami sandwich and it was disgusting. the meat was dark brown, dry and the bread was super soggy. No pickles and mustard on the pastrami but it had grilled onion and grilled mushrooms. Never coming back again. I rather drive to Original Luke's on Alvernon Rd.

No longer Luke's-it is Lucky's. Don't go, it isn't Luke's. Prices are a little higher. They've removed some items. Quality isn't good. Got a sausage sandwich, they made Italian beef. Remade it. One piece of my sausage was raw. They explained that they all temp at 120, which is not the proper temp for Italian sausage. Offered to replace it, but no refund.. bread was hard.

The cheesesteak was a joke, and they shorted us on an order of fries. The fountain drinks were good though. What happened to Luke???I think the one on Alvernon is still good.

Guess the original owner sold it recently and the new owners now call it Lucky's. Raised all the prices at least $1 - even the french frys. I could see raising frys 50 cents but a whole dollar? Undercooked. Not like Luke's at all. Got the chicago dog special which I figured they could not mess up. The dog itself did not seem to be the same as before, used to get french frys for each dog and only got one this time. And something else is not right on the dog. I am pretty sure the Italian beef, which was the specialty will not be anything like it was. Don't think I am willing to go back considering my usual order would now cost over $40 and I can go to Texas Roadhouse for that. If your starting or taking over a business you should give it a bit longer to see where you can raise your prices. Not just slam the whole board with an increase.

First time there since new owner. Prices have really jumped up! Turkey sub had plenty of meat but totally dry. They put no mayo or anything on it. We also ordered 2 combos. Only to find out that both of them had no Italian sausage on them. Only beef. This beef was also way spicier than it used to be. Didn’t like it. Paid all that money and didn’t even get all the meat we were suppose to. It was disappointing! We loved Luke’s. But sadly we will not be returning again.

If you’re in the mood for a cheesesteak sandwich then you better come to Luke’s. My sandwich was loaded. I could tell that it was made with care by the chef. The fries were perfect too. I’m addicted to their black cherry drink. They gave me a free refill. I’ve been to this restaurant maybe four times and I have every reason to give it five stars. The decor is classic. I hope it never changes. The food was perfect. Everyone that works here makes you feel very welcome. Like family. One of the workers told me that she cleans the grill spotless. The restaurant is always perfectly clean too. This restaurant reminds me of Chicago. A taste of home for those who moved from there. No need to wait on a Portillo’s to open. You have something way better.

Driven by several times, tried for the first time today. Brought my dad who grew up in Chicago to check it out. We both ordered the Italian Sausage sandwich. The food was excellent, hot, and tasted fresh and came out pretty quickly despite it being a little busy. Dad said he'd give it a 9/10 based on what he grew up with. The restaurant was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant. The service was pretty good, the girl behind the counter didn't seem thrilled to be there but was polite and attentive. Price was about average for lunch compared to most places these days, not a bargain but the food was worth the money in my opinion. Overall very pleasant experience, going to try the Italian Beef sandwich on the next visit.

Love love love this place. Best Italian beef I've ever had and the bread...omg. so yummy. Got it wet with cheese and hot/sweet peppers. Crinkle cut fries and Chicago dog hit the spot too. 10/10

Took my kids to try the best fries ever and want disappointed. Ice yet to order something off the menu that wasn't good. The best way to put it is you know the food is for when you walk in and the place has several old timers sitting down talking and enjoying a meal. Luke's has been one of my favorite places to eat since I was a kid and now my own have added it to their favorites.
