The place is kinda run down , lack of up keep . But didn’t mind that. As we were finishing up our meal I noticed the sushi chef behind the counter, drop something on the ground , he looked around , bent down and picked it up and put it back in a tray behind the counter . I notice a few moments later he had taken that same item and put it into a machine just a few seconds later, he removed it from that machine and started making food with it. I asked the waitress what that machine was, and she said that was the seaweed paper and a sushi rice dispenser. The chef had dropped a sheet of seaweed paper on the ground looked around didn’t see anybody watching picked it up off the ground, put it back in the tray and used it for a customers role.I brought it up to our waitress and told her what I saw. She excused it and apologized and left the table. After paying for my meal, I walked up to the counter and discussed it with the waitress. She then got the owner to come and talk to me. I explained to him what I saw, and told him that I was extremely disgusted by the chefs behavior. He was very dismissive and did not Really want to talk about it. He just said it was a mistake and that he was sorry. I appreciate the apology however, considering the status of the establishment; it’s leftover remnants of Covid shields, it’s random junk everywhere, it’s sticky kinda vide , and it’s a lack of maintenance and lack of cleanliness, I assume that is kind of status quo for this restaurant. He was very quick to dismiss my concern. I requested a refund and advised him that he should correct these types of issues and have a conversation with his employees about cleanliness and about proper food handling. Especially at a place like sushi where you spend a significant amount of money to enjoy an experience at a specialized restaurant. I also mentioned, the chef never changed his gloves and was coughing the entire time that he was making food and didn’t bother to cover his mouth. Which I also brought up to the owner. The chef was wearing his gloves, the entire time walking around the restaurant touching everything as well as all customers food he was preparing. Seems like there is an extreme lack of cleanliness and hygiene and an extreme lack of understanding of food safety. Wanted to give his place a chance, and not judge a book by its cover, but after seeing that all the dots were connected. Unfortunately, in this case, it looked like a duck, quacks like a duck, and… it was a duck.I would avoid this place if you’re in the airport district of Tucson. I believe it just has a lot of ratings because it’s frequently visited by business people , tourists , and people staying close to the airport that can’t go very far outside of the hotels due to expensive Uber rides and just utilizing the free shuttle rides at their hotel. They’re better places out there on Google. And I do believe that Google does not have an accurate representation of this establishment.

I called in on 4/10/24 mentioning a combo they have on their menu, that included teriyaki chicken, rolls, and crab puffs. The lady on the end of the phone told me they do not have that. I mentioned that it was on their website. She said they don't have anything like that, and then hung-up. I've had their food before, and it was good a few years ago. I hope they figure out what there menu is and maybe try and figure out where the misscommunication is, instead of just insulting people for no reason. Was super pumped to eat there again.

Always fresh. Friendly service.Update 3/14/2024:Changed from five stars to three. Food was ok, but not nearly as good as before. I don't know if they use it all the time, but they now have a machine that rolls the sushi and it's just not as good, it compresses the rice too much and the rolls are kind of small. The fish was fresh and service was still friendly so I'm leaving three stars, but sadly I don't think we'll go back if that's how it's going to be now. Sushi is too expensive to have a machine make it.
Ordered Ramen $15 bucks , it was instant ramen with 2 thin slices of pork. The broth would could 100 pct tell its boiling hot water with the spices from instant noodle. I told them it's not good. Both waiter and owner did not say anything nor offered me to get something else. Bad customer service. Also the sushi ... it's not sushi. Not quality food.
