This is definitely my first time going here and I was totally surprised. I was surprised first that I found the place because they're right behind the brewery. You can order food from the brewery and they will get it to you, but you have to find it and they will deliver it to the restaurant as well. The vegan comfort food was such a delicious and amazingly tasty food that I will definitely be back. The gentleman that was there was so friendly and helpful with ordering for my first time. if you are looking for a great plant-based getaway from the norm definitely visit here. Even if you're not vegan, you will love this place!

First time to Substance and it was really, really good. Me (not vegan) and wife (20yr vegan) got the spicy 'chicken', small fries, large kale salad and a chocolate shake and loved all of it!The seitan chicken was super well cooked, spicy, crunchy, with pickles, tomatoes and shredded lettuce on a toasty sesame bun. Could use a little saucing up, we ordered a side of ranch ??The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned well with salt and pepper.The kale salad was huge and fresh and the dressing (mustardy ranchy) was fab, but wish we had more cause it didn't fully coat the large. Oh and the house croutons were nuts.Cool spot in the back of Screwbean Brewery, where you can take your food to eat and grab a coffee, beer, cocktail. Will come back next time we are in Tucson ❤️

Went here on Monday feb 12th at 5 pm and the second I pulled up and parked the women with the mask on immediately started giving me dirty looks as I'm in my car because I parked in the wrong spot and after that I didn't feel comfortable getting down to order but still decided to still walk up and order anyway and the minute I walk up she starts telling me in a very rude manner "for future reference those aren't parking spots" and I said “thank you for letting me know, I parked in the same spot last time with no issues.” and she continued being rude and hostile towards me, she didn’t ask if i had any questions about the menu or anything. Her demeanor towards me from the second we made eye contact from my vehicle made me feel so uncomfortable and so unwelcomed as a customer it’s not even funny. I love the food at substance diner and I have never been treated this way at this establishment until now and this makes me not want to come back because I don’t want to feel bullied by this woman again. you don't treat people like this.

Great vegan diner food, we can always rely on Substance for the good stuff. Best vegan Sonoran dogs we've ever found. Thick diner fries that are seasoned great, and great vegan ranch. We love their new spot behind Screwbean Brewery, I hope it serves them well! We always go out of our way to find Substance Diner. Yum!

ALL vegan menu and food truck located right outside the Screwbean brewing co. Location, -The food we ordered was fantastic, one of the best Seitan spicy crispy chickun sandwiches I've had, big huge crispy patty, finely sliced lettuce, and yummy fluffy bun. Also had the Philly cheese steak sandwich that was hearty and packed full, along with the crispy lightly breaded fried pickles with homemade ranch, yum! Finally, we also thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate-peanut butter milk shake that was knock our socks off delicious!!! :P Service was friendly, kind, and very prompt, with every item made to order! Nice blocked off petite outdoor table sitting area with quiet surroundings. I truly can't wait to come back to this little gem! :D

This is some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had. Be pretty prepared to spend a little more here ($20 for a burger and fries). I love the substance burger, fries and ranch!

Very sad to be making this post. The last two times I've ordered food here have been bad experiences. The first occasion was when I ordered a Sonoran dog. I order one every time but I was very disappointed when I opened the box. Then today we got a burger with no lettuce. I went up to him to let him know that he forgot to put lettuce and his response was "Sorry we are all out, I would have to prep more" meaning that they weren't out he just didn't want to fix his mistake. To say the least, this is the last time I will ever be coming here. The business just seems to be going downhill with the people they are hiring.
