Love the cool dark/gothic vibe of this place. Caught a burlesque show here which was super fun - with some impressive talent on the stage! I visited during the afternoon and again the same night for the show. Both times it was a challenge to get bartenders attention and they weren't the friendliest. Maybe it's part of the schtick because of the name?? Overall: diverse crowd, plenty of standing room, reasonable drink prices, friendly door staff, unique entertainment (they also have live music that isn't the normal boring stuff), outdoor patio - would definitely visit again.

This place is an absolute gem. I love the space, the vibe, the atmosphere and the people who work there. This was my 1st time here and I hope to go back every time I'm in Tucson. They serve up top notch drinks and yummy eats. It was the perfect place to just have a drink and enjoy myself.

Went in there with her friend to do karaoke. Apparently they had a KJ who was filling in that night who did not know what they were doing. Could not saying unless she gave them your email. Didn't even know how to work their own mics the main reason they're getting a one is because of their karaoke

I imagine Surly Wench exists mainly as a music venue, although I could be wrong. Stopping in for a couple pints on a Thursday late afternoon, the place was dead, which was fine with me. Easy order at the bar, quick friendly service and my choice of seats. It's a dive bar. And I mean that in a good way.

I dropped in here for a quick dinner recently. The place was quite dark, with music playing and a movie playing (silently but with captions) on the TV screen. There was no table service; I had to go to the bar to place my order with the bartender. I ordered chicken tacos. They have three kinds of salsa, but you can only get two with each order. The tacos and salsas were tasty. The menu said the price was $12, but it rang up at $13. The bartender said the extra dollar was a fee for paying with a credit card. Whatever. Anyway, the food here is good, but I could have done without some of the quirks.
