Place was absolutely packed for dinner so the service was quite slow and we had to try and flag down our server multiple times for water refills and the bill. I'd highly suggest making a reservation in advance as the wait time can get really long.Came with a big group and shared some Taiwanese salt and pepper fried chicken to start and deep fried bao for dessert. We each ordered our individual mains and it was tough trying to decide from their huge (and I mean HUGE) menu. I picked the stewed pork rice bowl, which was tender and delicious. It also comes with a variety of toppings such as egg and pork meat balls, which were all tasty. The fried chicken was crispy and well seasoned, but don't let its appearance fool you. Under the top layer of chicken, the basket was filled with lobster chips, which was a tad disappointing. Definitely order two if you plan on sharing with a big group. My favourite part was the deep fried bao, as it was crispy on the outside and soft and pillowy within. Also really great to share for dessert! Would definitely come back again to try all their other menu items.

Good food, good service, nice ambiance. More on the pricey side though. Less expensive during Afternoon Tea hours (Weekdays 3 pm to 5 pm)

It's been awhile since we last dined here. There have been a few changes to the menu since we last came here. I was a bit saddened to see that the Hakka Style Scallion Oil Vegetable Noodle Soup I had enjoyed last time was no longer on the menu. Happy though to read the menu and see that they do still have Vegetarian options on the menu!Featured here: Glutinous Rice Sausage SkewerTaiwanese Salty Peppery Chicken NuggetsFish Nuggets in Swirled Egg & Creamy Corn SauceHouse Special Vegetable Egg Fried RiceChive PotstickerMatcha Snowflake Shaved IceGlutinous Rice Sausage Skewer was definitely new to me, and was amongst the items on their menu that were Vegetarian. The texture was interesting. Somehow, they did a pretty good job of simulating the texture of a meat sausage, with the outer casing that surrounded the glutinous rice. Beyond that, there really wasn't much similarity between this and a real meat sausage either in taste or texture. It was quite bland and lacking in flavor. Not something I'd ever order again. This was the one item I found that turned out to be a disappointment. Everything else on the table was fantastic; especially the Matcha Snowflake Shaved Ice dessert. It's so cool with the dried ice. Makes it look so "misty"! This dessert is an absolute "must" when coming to this restaurant. The kids kept on stretching out their hands; trying to touch the mist! I do recommend before ordering any of their Snowflake Shaved Ice desserts that you check with the staff on whether they have dried ice for the dessert. Last year we ordered the dessert and only after bringing it to the table did they inform us that they had run out of dry ice. So...no "misty" effect that day, which was quite disappointing.Service: GoodParking: Free parking at the restaurantLocation: 6400 Kingsway, Burnaby

I think the reason for google high ratings for this place has a lot to do with $5 coupon given out to customers who leaves a 5 star rating. We felt the food was average and service was somewhat not up to standard. However the menu was thoughtful as it included picture and English in thoughtful manner. Place however has somewhat of parking space issue due to large volume of customers. We will perhaps try their food again in the future and change the rating but for now we don’t think highly of this place.

This place is very busy on the weekend! We came here on a Saturday evening around 7:30pm and were told the wait would be 20 minutes or so. We were seated around 8 pm, but dishes came out fast and were delicious! They offer a huge menu with everything from appetizers to noodle dishes to traditional desserts in hot and cold varieties! They have a one hour limit at tables during busy times, but with the rate the food comes out, that is not a problem. They do have a tiny parking lot, and most people end up parking on the street. Prices aren't low, but the food is delicious.

There were ten of us and none of us got our food at the same time, including one of our party who didn't get their food until the rest of us were finished. Serving staff were non existent. But, the food was really great!

Love the variety of Asian dishes at this lively restaurant in South Burnaby. The menu is like a book. Fantastic service, good portions and delicious food. Highly recommend for families and groups. We will be back!

Always amazed how many items are on the Myst menu. There are pages to choose from so you'll most definitely find something you like. I was craving grilled meat and decided on the 2 meat/protein + carb combo. It was around ~$25 and I chose pan fried chicken with black pepper sauce (choice of sauce), fried squid, and spaghetti noodles (your choice of carb). It came with a fried egg on top as well. Definitely satisfied the craving. Sauce was a bit rich but had good flavour. Around 8:30pm there was a short wait (5 minutes). Nice friendly service.

Impressive menu -- Huge variety of Asian foods from hotpot to beef noodles to pork knuckles to Hainanese chicken rice and many drinks and dessert options. Prices may be higher than some Chinese restaurants but they make up for it with good service, comfortable seating and decent ambiance. You should note to bring cash or debit card to pay, if you don't want to be charged an extra 2% for using credit card payments. (New payment policy) Own parking lot available but lot tend to be busy and I often find it easier to just take a street parking spot. Myst is a good option when your party are craving very different Asian items. You can be your own creative chef and customize your own combo. Simply choose your favorite meats, may it be lamb skewers or steak or chicken and pair it with your choice of carbs ie. egg noodles or rice and then choose from a selection of sauces available. You can even pair it with French toast 西多士 instead of rice and noodles too Photo added was my own creative combo selection of Hainanese Chicken with its own green onion sauce and vinegar dip; then I chose to pair it with Chinese egg noodle 油麵 + Curry Sauce instead of the regular sesame rice. Yum yum!

Went breakfast. It was lots of food. But it was yummy. Kids like continental breakfast and I like Taiwanese style. Both works and had good time. They said will charge 2% credit card charge from next month or something. I know they can charge now on. But should do better way I think.

Wanted to try something a little different from traditional HK breakfast places and this place delivered on it! I love the menu and the selection of various breakfast items. So many combinations and some items you would normally find in Taiwan easily. Service was fantastic, portions were generous, price was bang on and taste is great. I would love to go back and try more of the menu!!

I keep seeing Myst pop up in my feed and had made it a point to eventually stop by. I'm already a regular at their sister restaurant so it was doubly interesting to see what's different about Myst. The restaurant is larger and more spacious. It's also much further out along Kingsway. For my fellow walkers, it's about a 20 minute walk from Royal Oak Station. The menu here also feels ginormous by comparison. My friends and I kept getting lost flipping through the menu to find what we wanted. I was having a bit of a steak craving and opted for the steak noodle soup. The broth is still solid and just lime I'm used to from their other restaurant. Tasty and made me dig deep to drink up more than I should. I slightly regret going for the steak option as I'm sure their regular beef noodle serving is a better fit for a broth based dish. Nonetheless, no major complaints for the food. I would still say it's a bit more pricey compared to similar restaurants, or another way I would describe it would be it is a bit more of an upscale option. If you can look past that, this is a solid restaurant with tons of options for whatever Asian food related craving you may have.

Wanted to check this place out for a long time after many friends’ strong recommendations. Well, they are right. This place is crazy good! First of all, they are busy even late into the night. Jammed packed with people waiting in line. But their turnover is also quick. I haven’t seen that many servers running around in a restaurant for a long time since the pandemic. Fast service and great attitude. Secondly, the menu is crazy thick with so many options it gave me a headache! Deciding what to order can be challenging. Finally, the food is fantastic! The Taiwanese crispy stinky tofu is delicious and authentic. The Japanese egg-wrapped rice with curry is huge and tasty. The Taiwanese fried noodle had more ingredients than noodles.

We decided to visit MYST for some late dinner and just as an FYI, it can get pretty busy during the night so be prepared to wait a bit! We ordered the New York AAA Steak platter, the beef noodle soup, a beef brisket and tendon stew with rice, as well as deep fried pig trotters. The food took awhile to come out (which is understandable since it was quite busy), but one dish didn't come out until 15 minutes after the rest of the table received their meal. I was a little disappointed with the steak portion considering the price and was not asked about the doneness of the meat. Overall, it was a pretty mid experience.
