Love the apple strudels and Snitzel/spatzle. It is the real thing! The owners are so pleasant and sincere

This is very nice, quiet cafe on the high street with a northern European ambience. The owner is very friendly and eager to please. I have only bought take away. Although there are several ready made croissant sandwiches, recently I wanted a rustic bread so a fresh turkey, ham, cheese was made for me ($8, very tasty). I have also bought the Friday schnitzel, which is huge and feeds 2 people ($23). Comes with sauce and spaetzle. I look forward to trying the pastries.

We recently joined some friends for lunch at the Cappuccino Grande Cafe in Courtenay. We were immediately impressed with the cozy atmosphere and the European ambiance. The staff was prompt and friendly and the food was amazing. Had their delicious goulash and a freshly made deli sandwich. To finish off, enjoyed a piece of their wonderful Linzer Torte and a cup of coffee (cakes and desserts are truly amazing - try the Strudel). Our friends had a variety of fare from the reasonably comprehensive European influenced offerings, and were favourably impressed with the freshness, flavour and price. We all fully enjoyed our dining experience, and, we were not subjected to invasive questioning about our personal health status. Great food and wonderful ambiance - customers have the choice of "eating in" or "take out." We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the ambiance and being treated as welcome and valued customers!

Oh my goodness! I love love love this cafe. The baking is to die for! The art work, inspiring! The lunches, unique and innovative! What an amazing chef, and lovely couple, who run this unique one-of-a-kind gourmet cafe. We miss the Cappuccino Grande Cafe and its wonderful owners sooo much!

The cinnamon buns and coffee were delicious. Coffee served in reasonable sized cups - often find even a 'small' latte too much, this was just right. Also purchased lunch - croissants with ham and salad - delicious. I highly recommend this cafe and will certainly return if we get the opportunity.

Cappuccino is the best coffee bar on 5th - they are very friendly - the desserts are too die for - I have been there many times and dont understand why they would ever get a bad review - wonderful !!!

My wife loves the Austrian Fruit bread made at this cafe. We are told it is made with only the best ingredients and you can certainly tell that this is true. It is chock full of all kinds of rum soaked fruit and nuts. We're told the batter contains no refined sugars - sweetened naturally and can be frozen for some time. I thought I would get my wife a couple of loaves as a Christmas gift but on the day I dropped by, there was none available and no plans to make any until after Christmas. When I explained my problem to the owners, they took my phone number and said they would call if some became available sooner. To my great surprise and my wife's delight, they called the very next day. The owners had stayed late to make sure I would have a very special Christmas gift under the tree for my wife. Definitely above and beyond! The quality of all of their products is of exceptionally high standard. I would highly recommend this cafe for their personalized, caring service and superb quality products. They sell nothing but the very best!
