I worked with Ernesto Cabral throughout his time at the Gap in Waterloo (he was a supervisor) and it's long overdue to say that he is by far the worst person I've ever worked with. He was a bully and chose me as his target to be cruel towards every single shift for no good reason other than he was miserable. His treatment was calculated- he knew what he was doing. He deliberately insulted me only when none of the other staff were around. This is a known fact because I shared his behavior with my co-workers who confirmed they did not receive the same treatment from him. Even when customers would rave about my customer service, he would immediately come up with an insult or negative criticism to put me down. He never once said a positive thing to me nor acted respectful (constant dirty looks every shift) towards me over the entire tome I worked there, so I cannot recommend Ernesto to work with anyone because of the long-term chronic workplace harassment he exercised towards me. Asides from Ernesto, it was a very positive and supportive environment. It just takes one person to kill your company culture - if you're looking for that someone, pick Ernesto. He's 'fake nice' to those he cannot take advantage of.

They only open on Friday, so I took a day off from my college, and finally could visit here. It was worth it!! I loved the taste of their white IPA. But it wasn’t in canned, so I purchased other kinds of beers.

Finally had a chance to try this place after waiting for several years(!). This one is really hard to get to, as it is only open on Friday afternoons.Parking is available in the nice large Kwantlen lot.The brew lab is actually located in the NW side of the building (about 11 o'clock on a map). Look for the building that says "Brewing Instructional Laboratory" on the side. There's also a sandwich board outside. The lab wasn't in session when we showed up. The sales counter is actually more like a loading bay with a table, staffed by who I assume are the instructors. In case you haven't figured it out already, this place sells batches of beer made by the brewery program students. As of the time of writing, they had 4 beers on tap (growler fills), and 3 types of canned beer. My understanding is that there is normally some sort of tasting room setup when there's no pandemic going around. Also the selection changes every few weeks as well. The guy at the table was friendly and helpful. Also gave my buddy and me a quick tour of the brew lab. Pretty cool stuff. The students make either small batches (small group of students) or big batches (larger groups). The beers are then tested for consistency and quality before getting mixed together into a production run.I tried a couple of their beers and they're a bit different. Not in a bad way though. Maybe different isn't the right word. Unique is more like it. I think it's because the beer is more "regular" compared to all the random niche beers at the craft places out there. Pricing was reasonable as of the time of writing ($10 growler fills, $14 for a 6 pack).Definitely glad I popped by to help some random students consume their term projects. Somebody has to do it.Will be back at some point if time and geography permit. I do wish they have slightly better hours or a better distribution system (ie more places to buy their product) though.

The KPU Brewing Lab is a separate building on the Langley campus. They're open to the public Fridays from 1-5 pm for beer sales of student-brewed craft beer. For details and prices, visit kpu.ca/brew.
