Tasty! Tasty! Tasty! From the outside, Gaya is just another storefront, but the food surprised me. Okay, I’m not the most inventive when I order sushi, choosing California rolls and Dynamite rolls over and over again, but I like them, so sue me. I’ve come to appreciate the subtle flavours from these rolls, so when I bit into the Gaya rolls and was hit with a new dimension of flavour, I was instantly in love. I live in the Lower Mainland, so I don’t get over to Nanaimo often except when I’m working. I’ll definitely be making Gaya a regular stop when I come into town. ❤️❤️❤️Parking: Monster parking lot. I’ve never seen it full, ever!Wheelchair accessibility: Sidewalks leading up to Gaya are wheelchair accessible and the door to the store should be wide enough

I love y’all’s sushi but this is the third time I’ve driven to your shop to order and you’re closed despite the store front sign and Google telling me you’re open. I understand if you cannot find the staff to work, but this is the last time I can waste gas driving to your store. I don’t call cuz you don’t pick up even when you are open, which I’ve learned by just driving to the restaurant and see you’re very busy. It’s a bummer and I don’t know what’s up. You seem like a family business so maybe there is just some instability going on. I hope y’all can figure it out - you were my favourite joint but I gotta go elsewhere

Fresh. Flavourful. Friendly. Fast. This place might be a small operation but Gaya Sushi is big on what counts, namely top notch quality Japanese. Their online menu app is easy to navigate and the selection more than ample. Their nigri is very fresh. The speciality rolls inventive. Fried noodle dishes are flavourful and ample. And if you're a gomae fan, their's is some of the tastiest I've had. And best of all, their costs are very reasonable. Staff are friendly and attentive. They deserve the 5 stars I've awarded. Support small business. You'll not be disappointed.

This is my favorite sushi place in Nanaimo. Consistent good quality sushi. My kids recognize the difference if we end up ordering from somewhere else!As a bonus, the family that runs it is so lovely. They greet me by name when I come in, send me home with treats for my kids, and have given me rolls "on the house" just because.I highly recommend.
