Absolutely phenomenal Japanese food. From living in Japan for more than five years, I would say the dishes served at Kurama are, hands down, the best around. Absolutely fantastic and fresh nigiri; the tuna, hamachi, and salmon are especially delicious. Their Kurama rice is awesome and their miso burgers for Burger Month are incredibly unique and tasty. In these times of razor-thin restaurant profit margins, their prices are also very reasonable. Go support Taka san, Yuki san, and their wonderful family and kind professional staff the next time you are wondering where to eat.とても美味しかったです。
Some of the best sushi I've had outside of Vancouver and Japan. Great ingredients and presentation. Would recommend to others! Gochisosama!

Food was good. Service definitely took quite a while, but I think I arrived at a bad time. I dislike when places ask you to pay and tip before receiving your meal. It goes against the purpose of tipping as an indicator of good service. Tips need to either be afterwards, or you need to be a place that doesn’t accept tips and just pays your staff well enough without.

This place was amazing. The sushi so fresh, and sashimi perfect. A small and intimate dining experience. As they say “never judge a book by the cover” . Well worth the journey to taste excellent food. Can’t recommend enough.

This is a great sushi spot. I enjoyed the miso soup, several vegan rolls and Inari. Everything was fresh and delicious. The yam was perfectly cooked and tasty. The atmosphere is chill with nice music, beautiful slab wood tables and graffiti wall art. The owner Taka was pleasant and cordial. I bought some of their homemade Miso and used it in sauces and soups at home. Delicious! I look forward to my next visit!

Best sushi in Nelson! I take this back after my order today. Very expensive and terrible!Kid’s menu stuff thrown in to a container the rolls all loose. No flavour. Donburi bowl disgusting and flavourless. Nope never again! Just awful. New owners I guess cutting corners.
