So convenient to grab a quick and affordable lunch Sets.You are getting the quality of what you’re paying.A massive portion and selection for the Lunch Sets.I ordered my set with the Salmon, it was pretty dry. But still okay to eat.I love the dynamite roll and the tempura.The servers were so pleasant and friendly.Glad to know Lower Lonsdale has a great neighborhood restaurants to dine.

Great sushi store! I came here and enjoyed a lunch box, we also had the sukiyaki beef don. Both were delicious and a good serving size! We both took leftovers to go and had it for lunch the next day!Super friendly service and a well kept restaurant.It got busy at lunch so it's not a secret that it's a gem.Will be returning often and I recommend you try it out too!

The sushi was so good! Everything tastes really good and fresh and they have good customer service. Probably one of my favourite sushi restaurants in the area. Definitely recommend :)
JL Kitchen makes great sushi. Their items are very well constructed, made with great ingredients and very crisp and nice looking. Their menu is very extensive, with plenty of staples and unique items and adequately priced for the value.The dining area is nicely taken care of, clean and the atmosphere is usually family friendly and well lit. It's in the great walking neighborhood of lower lonsdale.I'd rate these guys in the upper half of North Van's middle casual dining for Japanese restaurants. Food is expertly crafted. My dynamite roll for example was tightly packed, compact and stayed together when I picked it up. Rolls didn't have a big ball of end cuts. You can tell the sushi chef here is very experienced and efficient, with a flair for visual appeal.I'd give them a perfect rating if their service was better and more on the ball. We had to wait quite a bit to be prompted for our opening drinks and items. Maybe they were just under staffed that night, but never the less our servers were friendly and got all our orders right.

Went here while visiting North Van because it was the cheapest sushi within 10 minutes of the Shipyards! Really glad we visited too because the sushi and tempura we got was good! The prawn tempura was perfectly cooked, the prawns were soft and juicy, and the batter gave the perfect crunch. We got a bonus green bean in the mix too! Everything was great for my soft mouth. The California roll was delicious, and the dynamite roll was okay. It tasted a lot just like a California roll with a tempura in the middle.. I usually expect more--like cucumber at the very least. The house special roll was similar--tasted like a California roll with some extra toppings. The tuna and spicy mayo with yam crunch on top.. was Not good. We ended up just throwing it away. Felt so wasteful but it was inedible for us. The salmon oshi was really good! the rice was a little too dense for my preference but it was a good ratio between rice and salmon. If this spot was more expensive, I may rate it three stars, but the price is too good not to commend! Service was good. We were left alone most of the time, which I usually like. BUT I wish they filled my tea at least once.. Ambiance was nice, a small quaint restaurant!

What restaurants need to understand in these times of high inflation is: When people choose to spend their hard earned dollars on eating out, it better be amazing AND if you're charging the same prices as surrounding sushi restaurants that have a good product, it better be comparable. I felt nickel and dime at every turn for everything.What I can tell you is, I ordered a tuna/wild salmon donburi and a teriyaki roll. The donburi boasted "8" pieces of sashimi that were translucent against the rice. I am talking razor thin. The bowl was $20.00. Comparable bowls are around the same +/- 1-3 dollars. It was disappointing. The teriyaki roll was average and there was a advertised promotion for "classic rolls" being $2.00 off and the bill didn't reflect it. I didn't bother saying anything because she was aware of the promotion because I clarified what a classic roll was.Needless to say, I won't be back for subpar portions and high end prices that correlate to the top notch Lonsdale sushi locations elsewhere. Restaurants need to be careful because soon consumers will just stop going out. PERIOD.
