“In a crazy busy morning due to widespread power outage the restaurant was hoppin as many of us were looking for coffee & breakfast!! The staff n servers were absolutely incredible staying organized n calm n friendly!! The food arrived hot n was absolutely delicious!! Amazing job in the midst of a crazy busy morn! “It was Easter weekend and we had no idea what we were going to do. So we went for a drive and my Girl, aka copilot was searching her phone for a place to stop for a snack and a beer. She came across Fern and Cedar, I asked if we were heading in their direction and as luck would have it we were minutes away. For a busy day, we were seated immediately...awesome.The Waite staff were wonderful, the beers were very tasty and the cheese burger and cod and chips were stellar. We shall return in summer and sit outside.”

“A friend and I had lunch there and enjoyed two wonderful and satisfying meals. My friend had the non vegetarian special (she chose butter chicken) and I had chicken tandoori. The latter was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My usual experience is that tandoori chicken can be a bit dry, but not here. It was fresh, tender and juicy! I had a taste of my friend’s butter chicken and found it delicious, though a tiny bit sweeter than I’m used to. Both portions were generous and the prices very reasonable.”

“Sushi Hama is easily the best sushi I’ve had on the island. Since it has opened it has become a staple in the community and I can’t eat anywhere else. 10/10 recommend to anyone, wether you’re in town for a day or you’re local, it’ll become a favourite.”

“4 of us went there last week (2 from Comox and 2 from Nanaimo) and the food was incredible. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. We just wish we weren’t so rushed, it really took away from our night out. We were told we only had 1.5 hrs which was no problem. She reminded us continuously throughout the meal and after an hr asked us if we were ready for our bill. We told her we were thinking about having a dessert (which was pre-made) and she sighed and looked at her watch! She brought the dessert and we scarfed it so fast and just got out of there. We tipped well because who knows if the pressure was coming from the kitchen, but we left with 20 mins to spare and a whole lot of empty tables there. Recommend if you aren’t meeting others and are in a hurry.”

“Just moved from the mainland and our first walk around the quaint town of Qualicum Beach. Stopped in at Gary’s Bistro and shared the two piece fish and chips with hubby. It was so good! And definitely enough for two people. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.”

“We were looking for a place to hold a small gathering with family and friends to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We LOVE Thalassa. So we asked Ooara if they would accommodate us!! And they did NOT disappoint us!! When we arrived, the room was all set up perfectly! We added a few personal touches and voila...perfection! We had appies to start, followed by a fluffy salad, and a wonderful ham and scalloped potatoes with fresh veggies ...all of which were wonderfully prepared and served to us! The portions were very generous! Throughout the evening they served wine, drinks, tea and coffee. And to top it all off, they served us a yummy “ anniversary” cake, fresh from the Bakery in Ladysmith!! I almost forgot to mention the exceptional view we enjoyed from our party...the ocean and golf course..what more could we ask for!! The chef and staff were so amazing and outdid themselves in delivering exactly what we wanted!! All in all, it was a perfect place to have our gathering. We all totally enjoyed ourselves.
