We have always loved Dave's. Even today, the fish was very good. The fries were cold but they brought us new ones. The problem I have now is this restaurant has become really dirty. I am not sure what has happened but I doubt I will be back because of the lack of cleanliness. Truthfully, get a cleaner in. Repaint the walls. The food is too good to have such a dirty place. I would not take guests there. Sorry for the bad review, I usually write good ones.

Shrinkflation has hit hard. The batter on the fish for their fish and chips probably remains the best in Steveston. The serving size of the the last time I went was 20-25 % of what it was 4 years ago. Just not worth it anymore!!!!

Fish and chips were really good. We upgraded to the halibut and it was SO worth it. Went here Feb 2020, then came back March 2024. Service this time around was slow and the front staff seem stressed out. To be fair, it was a Saturday during peak cherry blossom time.Also to note, husband upgraded to the sweet potato fries and personally, we felt charging $5 for a side upgrade was a little too high. But that’s just a personal opinion.Def will come here again tho! Fresh fish with extra crispy chips :)

Atrocious service by the floor manager. Waited over 40 minutes only for others who came after us to be served before us. Apparently our ticket was “misplaced.” I complained to the floor manager who left to find out what was going on, but he never came back! He is so disorganized it’s laughable. This place has really gone downhill after the new owners have taken over.Amendment: the regular staff are doing a good job while fixing the manager’s mistakes.

Some of the better fish and chips in the lower mainland, and my mum was British, so I know my fish and chips.Went right at peak dinner hours on Good Friday, had to wait only about 30min for table for 4.Had the halibut, was really good.Recommendation approval for Dave's.Parking: Paid parking.If you are lucky, you might get a spot on the street.

My celiac son got glutened at this restaurant. We went specifically because of the gluten free reviews. The server assured us that fish and yam fries had a dedicated gluten free fryer.My son got so sick. I called and the manager apologized, but said they were busy and accidents happen. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone with celiac disease, as it is not safe.

Best Fish'n'Chips. Always get it for Take-Out. Been going here since I was a kid growing up. Now everytime in Richmond try to make a stop here for Take-Out. Easily recommend them to anyone. Especially like the Hailbut and there Tarter is great.
We've visited this restaurant at least 30 times over the last decade, but no more. Food quality has gone down, and the posted hours are incorrect. It seems the restaurant actually stops serving food at either 6 or 6:30PM, not 7PM as posted. We've been turned away twice because of "last call". I'm no expert, but I think that's called false advertising. Best of luck in the future new owners of Dave's! You'll need it!

The food was good me and my date had the cod and chips, however the service was very rushed and horrible, the servers were trying to take our plates before we were even finished literally still eating, one server a minute later walked over and asked if we were "almost done." When we were still eating and talking they didn't come by and ask if we would like the bill the server just brought us the machine didn't say anything and left it at our table with the receipt in it. I would have loved to write a five star review because i actually did like the food and the restaurant had a cool vibe going on, but the service was really bad.

This used to be the BEST - not any more!!!! Third time I've been there since Covid. Over done fish - dry!!! I ordered clam chowder today and it was very thick paste of flour and water -- maybe skim milk - not creamy, tasteless, few potatoes and maybe 4 - 6 pcs of clam... NOT the great clam chowder we used to get!!! Must be new ownership. Three tries --- NEVER again!!!
