Came to Richmond for a day to test drive and buy a car. Was craving something to eat and stopped by this restaurant.Decor is nice, wasn't busy but it was also good Friday.The server Claire I believe that was her name was exceptional, friendly and excellent at her job. Corrected a mistake almost immediately without us having to bring attention to it.The food was very good and filling as well my only gripe is the sheet place onto of the plate starts to rip from the sauce/fats from the food. I had the beef brisket with the rice and corn bread.Brisket was good, really loved the corn bread. The portion was just right too and I'm a very big eaten, not too stuffed but very satisfiedOverall I would come back to this restaurant if I was in Richmond again craving some barbecue

To try:- hog shack KFC (akin to Costco Korean jerky bites)- St Louis ribs (melt-in-your-mouth savoury bomb)- Dino ribs (off-the-bone ?)- corn bread (judge me later)If you're still hungry:- BBQ chicken (well marinated and moist)- smoked sausage (smokey but a tad dry)- wings (crispy texture but inconsistent seasoning)To forget:- brisket (dry and tasteless ?)- pulled pork (same as the brisket)

If you're looking for BBQ and smoked meats with flavor come to hog Shack. Their in-house cured bacon and sauces and are a must try. Jurassic platter, KFC Appy and BBQ bacon burger are my go tos. If you're craving something that's different from what most of steveston restaurants offer, I suggest hog Shack.
Pretty meh barbecue: the ribs were dry, lacking in smokiness and just generally boring. The chicken and pulled pork were comparably slightly better, though still nothing to get too excited about.

The only thing wrong with this place is that it's not closer to where I live. The food was great, this is fall off the bone melt in your mouth BBQ. I had the smoke lover's with brisket and pulled pork, it was amazing and delicious. I chose yam fries which were fresh and I love the sauce for dipping and cheesy grits also really tasty as my side. The Jack Peacher drink was delicious and I love their alcohol options craft beers, cocktails, and whiskey flights! Service was good and the atomsphere is cool.
Great food and fast friendly service. If you like pulled pork or big burgers this is the place.

My partner and I frequent Hogshack and we honestly cannot get enough. Their BBQ is top notch, unmatched, and well-priced. Their portions are large, their cornbread is fantastic, and the staff is always so welcoming and friendly. Cannot recommend Hogshack enough!

First time there today. 09/30/2023 If your a meat eater this is the place to go. Got there right at noon, so no one was there. I found the food really good and the cornbread was amazing. I even bought the mix. I had the Big Johnson so much for the price, ribs, pulled pork and brisket.Enough left over to take home for 2 more meals. I will definitely return and try something else. Staff are friendly and answered my questions. I also used to live in the south Louisiana and Texas and the food was better than some restaurants down south.

Food is good as usual. Nice family joint. Only down side we wish the older lady serving us could take the stick out of her. She looks like she hated her job and her service is bottom of the line... the bartender and the younger service were awesome
