Poke bowl and chicken sticky rice box are my favourite. Rice balls are pricy and little bit less flavour.

When I order a cali roll and a dynamite roll for takeout I get a container from the cooler and not fresh. This was the last chance for this restaurant. I’m done, never coming back. I should have known better when I was 5 min early and my food was ready.

super overpriced, super small portion for the price. as a quick grab and go type of business, their pricing is ridiculous.

Small sushi location that has removed eat in service and became take out only. Recently updated. Prices are much more expensive than many other Richmond area sushi businesses. Very busy on Friday and Saturdays evenings. Thus, ordering ahead for takeout is a great option. Was pretty shocked to see a bill of almost $29 for 3 average sized spicy tuna rolls. I understand prices have gone up, but Takeya seems much more aggressive in raising prices. It's disappointing as this was our go-to sushi location for over a decade. There are sushi locations close by (Blundel Center) that are similar quality but much cheaper.

Cannot give it more than one star. 150$ order in that picture. I shouldve went back and asked for my money back. Over priced, tiny portions that are not even good. Got salmon Bento that was some salmon flakes instead of a steak. Got 100 grams of saba for 15$, 5 tiny pieces. Overcooked udon noodles. Nothing was good. Teriyaki chicken was meh. Even the dynamite roll was the smallest portion I ever received. Spicy tuna 17$ was ok. Salmon was the only thing that was a descent portion and worth the price. Oh and thanks for the automatic .30 cents charge for bag. Got to squeeze every dollar while you can.

Is Takeya under new ownership??? Twice this past month we have ordered our usual sushi. The rice is way under seasoned; quite bland in fact, the tuna in the tuna roll is not the nice chunks we used to get, rather it is the scraps. We are very disappointed and will need to find a new place now.

I used to love this place when they first opened. Then I loved it less and now moreso even less. If you’re Japanese you probably won’t write about here. However who more better than to write a review about Japanese food? If you see the reviews here only a few Japanese descendants have written a review here. There’s a reason. Much like if you’ve noticed that the average review is not as good as they used to be. Something has changed and obviously they don’t care about reviews written here. I understand, and they have their system. Food prices are getting higher and even suppliers are changing. But you still can’t skimp on ingredients or take away the flavour. The average customer here doesn’t really know real Japanese food. Especially the ones that give them 5 stars to this day. Some reviews may even be fake?!!…. Having said that, you won’t find real Japanese coming here. I’ll go elsewhere. My Japanese food critique as well and all our other friends. Maybe it’s because we’ve collectively noticed changes that took away the appeal of what this place originally offered hence why many may think it is under new ownership. Mind you having said all of that. Their change to takeout Bento/kombini style food is good, the same dish you would get fresh isn’t always the same. It is fresher, but it could be different and I’ve heard of unexpected comments from friends and family. Maybe they need to tell customers this.

There is a wide variety of takeout food, providing customers with a great choice of food. The food is very delicious and affordable. The in store service is thoughtful and equipped with a microwave for customers to eat hot.

I had a fantastic experience at Takeya Sushi. The food was delicious, especially the Nigri Sushi Bento and Curry Bento. The customer service was exceptional.

Ok sushi, stringy sometimes, way over priced. Their gomae has shrunk by about half in the year I've lived in the area but I'm pretty sure the price went up. The sushi never made me sick but their fried items have twice im sure of, maybe they used oil that was bad I dont know. If you ask for extra Wasabi you never get it and when I finally got fed up and called and expressed how unhappy I was and how it happens every time they just said "oh sorry". Which means they don't care and that kind of service and attitude come through in the food as well. Any idiot might think this is a good restaurant but the world is full of idiots.
