The food is very bad, no taste and overcooked, I wouldn’t waste my time or money to eat there! Service was really bad, very impolite, when I told them the food tasted expired the waiter got very angry!

First time in a while to have gone here. They’ve renovated the place. The food was good. Get the pecking duck if you have a chance or if it’s not sold out .

Food not fresh at all. The juice inside of the steamed bun already became sour. I have tried 3 and keep thinking it looks and taste little bit weird. I was thinking maybe it is the reason of the vinegar . After I tried one with out vinegar, I realized it is gone off! So disappointed. Waste time and money. Service people are trying to be nice but cooking skill is awful. Definitely not the same chief and owner as I always went before.

I ordered a singsing chiken hot pot, then found out that over 1/3 of it are gingers...... and the price is over $25 for this ginger dish....

It's definitely the worst chinese food I've ever had! Tried this restaurant a long time ago and it wasn't good, I always order from Rickshaw and it's great. Was influenced by someone else to order from Lee Yuen instead and give it another try.... well what a mistake this was.First off they didn't answer their phone for about 40 mins, fine it's fathers day it's busy, no big deal. Finally get an answer and order. They tell us they have no almonds for the breaded almond chicken, ok no problem we still want the chicken, also order fried rice, sweet and sour pork and chicken chowmein. The chowmein was good, kind of bland nothing special. The pork was great and had bell peppers and onion. Could have used a little more sauce but overall decent and edible. Now let's talk about this fried rice... first off it's not fried. It's plain steamed white rice with peas and egg and no flavour. Someone forgot the most important step in the "Fried" rice. The almondless almond chicken is a whole other mess! I opened the container and it's all cut up, squished into a plastic container and a complete soggy disaster! I don't know why it was all shredded up into small pieces, I've never seen this from any other resturant. Who puts fried food into a non vented plastic container? Obviously it's going to stem and get condensation and become wet. That's just some basic high school science right there.Anyway don't eat here.... go to Rickshaw instead! What a terrible dinner for Father's day. I would give zero stars but at least the pork and noodles were okay enough to eat but they weren't great!

I'm not sure if there's a new owner's or something like that but in the past 3 days on 2 separate occasions I got this dinner for one combo which is now over 20 dollars after taxes and the sweet and sour pork has literally no sauce it's just dry and the chow mein taste awful and I'm not sure what happened but this place used to be really good and I'm really disappointed with their food lately

We ordered a 3 dish combo totaling over $100. The amount of food we got for two of the three dishes is as pictured. We used to order from them all the time; however, increasing prices on top of decreasing quantity is not the way you do business. We had to order extra from another restaurant. Never again.

A change of ownership also brings a menu change. Ordered a dinner for six . No noodles were included in this opinion. Only one small rice was provided. Unfortunately the rice was absolutely flavourless. The portion of food provided was definitely not enough for six. We absolutely loved this restaurant for many years. Due to the poor quality and reduced portion sizes We won’t be back. Very disappointing.

Fantastic! Shrimp spring rolls are amazing! Spicy deep fried squid was awesome...chicken balls and crispy noodles chow mein was great too. Food all came hot...and just on time! All in all food was great. Pricey but great! Customer service was great too! Thank you for delivering so far away. New customer for life!

I ordered from this place and after coming at the specified time to pick up, I continued to wait for 40 more minutes for the food. What's remarkable was that I came to pick up 1 item before 6 other customers but they still recieved their large orders first.I finally recieved the order and when I opened the container it had paper and a random piece of food that wasn't supposed to be part of the item inside. This was absolutely revolting and when I came back for a refund, I proceeded to wait again just for an employee to assist me, which is ridiculous since there was little to no customers eating in.The combination of poor food safety standards, terrible wait time, and incompetent customer service was quite astounding and I will never be coming back here.If you read to the end of this review then I sincerely hope you don't order from this restaurant as well.

Years back they use to have an amazing interior. Felt like a ballroom almost. What happened? Now it feels like dining in an open warehouse.Food is still fantastic and service is standard.

They don't change the table cover for you.. the food stain that is still wet is there and I asked to change the cloth but they say it does not come off..?? They do not care at all... this is not the first time. They served frozen crab after showing us the live one.

Been coming to this place for many years before it changed owners because Chinese restaurants are quite limited in the Surrey area. They renovated it a little here and there and changed the menu. They took away the elevated level and turned it into a complete open concept to make it brighter and more spacious, still a pretty casual ambiance feel. I believe the new owner kept some of the previous staffs and the service improved a little; the new owner is very friendly, attentive and engaging with the customers. Here were the food I ordered this time around; 1. Crab meat corn soup. It's okay, pretty average, a little more crab meat would be better for the price. 2. Stir fried scallops with sweet peas. Tasted okay but could make it more pleasing to eat, perhaps a few slices of carrot flakes, celery slices and bits of red bell peppers to give it some colour? So it doesn't look like a $5 dish? 3. Braised oyster in clay pot. A little over fried and overkilled with the onions. One thing I wish a lot of Chinese restaurants would stop doing is that some of the food doesn't necessarily need to be lightly floured and deep fried before braising. 4. House special chow mein. Quite lacking in ingredients compared to other places. 5. Crab with salted egg yolk. Sigh! Let's simply put it, went from honest to dishonest. The owner got one to weight it, putted it back to the tank cause too small, got another one to weight it but our waitress stopped her and just took it to the kitchen. I ordered it to be down with salted egg yolk and I guess somehow they make a mistake and deep fried it spicy with chilli peppers. I politely asked our waitress, "this is deep fried spicy not salted egg yolk right?" And she replied no it's salted egg yolk with some spicy chilli peppers. Lol let the picture tell the story. And it's not a 3lb crab, more like a 2.25lb crab at best. 6. Sizzling beef tenderloin and mushrooms with peppercorn on hot plate. The best part of this dish was it came out sizzling and that's that. Once again if you run the beef through around of hot oil to tenderize it and then on the sizzling hot plate, if not control right it will become beef jerky. The last time I came here was before the pandemic when the new owner first took over; the food and service were a lot better then. And that time I even complimented on them weighting the live seafood from the tank visibly to the customers. Fast forward after the lockdown, the food quality in my opinion went down a bit and the service from our waitress could be more direct (honest)? There were too many times restaurants make a mistake on my food and servers notified me and I am okay with it but when trying to undermine me, it's not really okay. This is a family run business and I know a lot of time and money are invested in trying to make it work especially after the hard hit pandemic and I hope it does succeed, I am even feeling a bit bad in being so honest because the owner of this place was truly nice and the hard effort she's putting into this place was quite evident during my whole dining experience. Maybe time to change the staffs to bring In some new energy to boost the business a bit? I know my words are pretty straightforward and may at time sounded harsh, but one of the main reason I started to do reviews again after so many years because I want to give a honest feedback to viewers and my positive criticism could be of use to the business, not one of those fake 5 star reviews.

Came to Lee Yuen for the first time and encountered a very nice and hard working owner who came from hk. Dinner portions are good size and delicious. Convenient location with a parking lot in the back. It would be better if the staff is better trained on serving dishes, passing out various menus and making sure table cloths are changed in a timely manner.
