This is my second time at Yugafu and it is still my favourite omakase! For $88, you get everything in the photos. The couple is super kind and very dedicated to the food they present to us. Coming to Yugafu, you're guaranteed exceptional service, ambience, and food :)

This is a pretty decent omakase experience on a budget, which probably explains why it's a 6-month wait for reservations. The food was good but I'll just go over the highlights:- the monkfish liver wasn't fishy at all (albeit that made it seem more bland than usual). The raw prawn and semi-cooked scallop on top was fresh.- stuffed (with fish? we couldn't tell) shiitake mushroom tempura was just okay, but unique. The prawn cake(?)-stuffed eggplant was a little better. There's a closeup picture of both attached. The rest of the tempura was great...nice and crispy batter.- the sushi was the highlight of the show for us...it was REALLY good. All of the fish slices were large and, can I say "juicy" for raw fish? I've never thought that way before for sushi but they were all just so plump and fresh...definitely tastier than your average sushi joints in town...even the mouthfeel was different.I admit I was humming and hawing on whether I wanted to spend so much on a meal because it didn't look like a lot of food (which isn't the point of enjoying a high quality meal I realize but I've got a big appetite) but after experiencing it, I would come back again regularly for an occasional treat. It was quite a memorable experience. And in the end, I felt comfortably satiated so the quantity wasn't too bad actually.Parking: There's a parking lot attached to the building, with the entrance off the street.

Definitely felt like an authentic Japan omakase, takes about an hour total. The grilled black cod??? Freshest fish you’ll ever have around here? Tempura was so unique and delicious too.The chef really adds to the experience, caring with such a genuine and warm smile! Even came out the back door to send us off after closing time. Dining there makes you feel super special?

Just like all the other reviews here I was absolutely blown away how this little Japanese restaurant Yugafu all the way in Surrey keeps everyone on high alert when their next reservations opens up! I booked this restaurant a little over 4 months ago and was so happy I finally got a reservation after multiple calls to book a table when they opened up reservations. The restaurant definitely lives up to its hype. The restaurant is small with a few bar seating where you can watch the chef and about 2-3 small tables. During my visit it was serving about 12 people including us. During our visit the menu included Chawan mushi (steamed egg) Ankimo (monk fish liver), tempura, seafood hotpot, 9 piece nigiri, miso soup with clams and taiyaki. Every single dish was phenomenal! Steamed egg was silky smooth. Monk fish liver was very tasty and not fishy at all. Tempura was a very crispy light batter and had some unique selections you don't get often else where. The seafood hotpot was in a paper bowl that surprisingly doesn't burn and there was so much seafood essence in the broth you just want every last drip! Nigiri selection was soooo good and fresh!! We loved the entire meal so much I ended up booking some more dates for future visits!

Absolutely amazing! This Japanese restaurant is a must visit. The food was amazing, the service is top notch and you have to try their sake and plum wine.

The absolute friggin best omakase and cheapest in price! In 2024, they increased the price to $88 per person, it's still a fraction of the cost to what other Japanese restaurants charge, as all other places are charging an average of $200 per person these days. We arrived to this cozy authentic Japanese restaurant and were seated promptly. The female owner gave us hot green tea and hot towel to start with. Then just shortly after a few minutes, dishes started coming in one by one. Each and every dish is delicious, scrumptious, fresh and perfectly seasoned. It's soooo good that I actually cried (yes, happy touching tears). Pace of each dish was great, we finished everything within 1.5 hour. Service was very attentive, and it's such a delight to watch the chef making the nigiri in front of us. The only complaint is that they are super booked up, and you have to reserve really far in advanced. But with such amazing quality and unbeatable price, I can definitely see why! Thanks Yugafu for such a memorable dinner!

It was a 6-month wait to come to Yugafu for their Omakase Keiseki and while it was good, I would hedge to say it was a 6-month-wait good. At this level of hype, we are no longer talking about how fresh the food is, but how differently they must rise above the other omakase-serving Japanese restaurants of the same repute in the Lower Mainland. I would forego the chawan mushi, the palate cleansing raw fish-radish-roll, and doughy dessert for just a simple ice-cream mochi . The pick of the lot would have to be the grilled black cod with miso, which I would be more than happy to pay $35 just to have that served like an oyakodon, with the black cod superseding the chicken-egg-scallions. The 9-piece nigiri was a big filler-upper, but by then, my hollow legs were stuffed, and I had the pleasant experience of sharing the extras with my son.
